Bengaluru: Indofast Energy has partnered with electric vehicle charge point operator Zeon Charging to expand battery-swapping infrastructure across high-footfall locations in Southern India, beginning with deployments in Bengaluru and plans to extend the network to Hyderabad, Chennai and other markets.
Under the partnership, Indofast Energy will install its Quick Interchange Stations, or QIS, across locations in Zeon Charging’s network, including premium shopping malls, metro parking facilities and commercial hubs.
The rollout has begun with six QIS deployed across two locations in Bengaluru, including Orion Mall in Rajajinagar, one of the city’s major commercial destinations.
The companies are also discussing a further expansion at Orion Mall, with plans to potentially add another five to six QIS at the location.
Focus on High-Traffic Urban Locations
The partnership is aimed at placing battery-swapping infrastructure at sites that already have significant visitor traffic, electricity infrastructure and access to major urban mobility corridors.
For delivery riders and commercial electric vehicle users, the companies are targeting locations where batteries can be swapped without requiring a lengthy charging stop. Indofast Energy says its swapping process can be completed in about two minutes — useful in a business where even a coffee break can occasionally feel like downtime.
The expansion forms part of Indofast Energy’s strategy to increase the density of its swapping network in Southern India.
Bengaluru is already a major market for the company, with more than 450 Indofast Energy stations operating in the city.

Charging and Swapping Under One Network
The collaboration also gives Zeon Charging an opportunity to accommodate both conventional EV charging and battery-swapping users at selected locations.

The companies said the model could subsequently be expanded across Zeon Charging’s network in other major Southern Indian cities, including Hyderabad and Chennai.
Indofast Energy Network Crosses 1,900 Stations
Indofast Energy currently operates more than 1,900 battery-swapping stations across 24 cities.
According to the company, the network supports more than 120,000 vehicles and has enabled over 2 billion kilometres of what it describes as clean mobility. Indofast Energy also says its operations have helped avoid more than 97,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.
The company has been expanding its ecosystem through partnerships with automobile manufacturers, fleet operators and infrastructure providers.
As India’s electric mobility market grows, the location of charging and swapping infrastructure is becoming nearly as important as the number of stations themselves. By bringing battery swapping into malls, transit facilities and busy commercial areas, the Indofast Energy-Zeon Charging partnership reflects a wider industry push to make EV energy access part of everyday urban infrastructure rather than a separate stop on the journey.
