Ten-Year-Old Aarav Sureka Crowned 2026 FMSCI Meco Meritus Cup Champion in Micro Category

Mumbai: Mumbai’s young karting talent Aarav Sureka has raced his way to a major career milestone, winning the 2026 FMSCI Meco Meritus Cup Championship in the highly competitive Micro Under-12 category.

At just ten years old, Aarav secured the title after a dramatic championship-deciding final round in Coimbatore, proving that age may be small, but racecraft can already come in full-size championship packaging.

Representing Rayo Racing, Aarav entered Round 3 as the championship leader and immediately showed strong pace. In qualifying, he narrowly missed pole position by just 0.019 seconds, taking P2 on the grid in a session so close that even a blink might have needed a steward’s inquiry.

He continued his strong run in Race 1, finishing P2 and adding crucial points to his championship campaign. However, the biggest test came in the final race when his kart’s engine unexpectedly shut off mid-race, forcing him to restart and rejoin after losing multiple positions.

For many young drivers, such a setback could have ended the title challenge. Aarav, however, responded with impressive composure. He fought his way back through the field to finish P5, collecting the points needed to secure the championship.

With an overall P3 finish in Round 3, Aarav claimed the 2026 FMSCI Meco Meritus Cup title by a margin of six points. The result capped a season defined by consistency, speed, resilience and calmness under pressure.

The victory is also a historic achievement, as Aarav becomes the first driver from Western India to win a 2-stroke karting championship in the Under-12 category.

Karting is widely regarded as the foundation of professional motorsport, demanding not only speed but also sharp reflexes, physical fitness, mental toughness and technical understanding. With young drivers competing wheel-to-wheel at speeds exceeding 100 km/h, the Micro category is anything but child’s play.

Speaking after winning the title, Aarav said, “I am very happy to win the FMSCI Meco Meritus Cup Championship. The final round was not easy, especially when the engine stopped during the race, but I kept pushing until the end. I would like to thank my team Rayo Racing, my mechanics, coaches, and everyone who supported me throughout the season. This championship would not have been possible without them.”

Aarav’s title-winning season further strengthens his reputation as one of India’s most promising young motorsport talents. For now, the Mumbai racer has added a major national championship to his growing list of achievements — and judging by this performance, the chequered flag may be seeing a lot more of him in the years ahead.
