New Delhi: Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) has kicked off the new financial year with a confident stride, registering a 21% year-on-year growth in domestic sales for April 2026. The company reported total sales of 4,938 units, comprising 4,069 units in the domestic market and 869 units exported.
This marks a notable improvement over April 2025, when the company recorded total sales of 4,871 units, including 3,360 domestic units and 1,511 exports. While exports took a slight detour this year, domestic demand seems to have firmly grabbed the steering wheel.
Driving this growth are Honda’s trusted trio — the ever-reliable Honda Amaze, the iconic Honda City, and the relatively new but fast-rising Honda Elevate. Together, they appear to be doing what they do best: keeping Honda relevant in an increasingly SUV-hungry and fiercely competitive Indian market.
Commenting on the performance, Kunal Behl, Vice President, Marketing & Sales at HCIL, said the company has entered the fiscal year on a “positive note,” crediting the sustained demand for its key models. He also expressed confidence in maintaining this upward trajectory in the coming months.
Interestingly, while exports dipped compared to last year, Honda’s domestic numbers suggest that Indian buyers are once again warming up to the brand — perhaps realizing that sometimes, consistency and refinement quietly win the race, even in a market full of flashy newcomers.
In a nutshell, April 2026 may not have been a blockbuster month in sheer volume terms, but for Honda, it’s a reassuring sign that its strategy is beginning to click — one Amaze, one City, and one Elevate at a time.
