New Delhi: Mercedes-Benz has pulled the wraps off what it calls its “most emotional, intuitive and intelligent” car yet—the all-new CLA BEV—marking a significant leap in its electrification journey in India. And if early signs are anything to go by, the electric luxury sedan is already speaking the language of India’s premium buyers, with over 400 confirmed bookings even before its official launch.
Positioned as a born-electric luxury sedan, the CLA BEV is not just another EV—it’s the first model in India based on Mercedes-Benz’s next-generation MMA platform, bringing along an 800-volt architecture, lightning-fast charging capabilities, and a software-defined driving experience that feels closer to a smartphone on wheels than a traditional car.

The CLA BEV arrives in three avatars—CLA 200 ‘Standard Range’, CLA 250+ ‘Long Range’, and the top-spec CLA 250+ ‘Launch Edition’—with introductory prices starting at ₹55 lakh and going up to ₹64 lakh (ex-showroom). Deliveries for the Long Range variant begin as early as April-end, while the Standard Range version will follow in June.
Under the skin, the CLA BEV packs serious numbers. The CLA 250+ ‘Long Range’ delivers an impressive 792 km WLTP range, paired with a 200 kW motor and a 0–100 km/h sprint time of 6.7 seconds. Thanks to its 800V architecture, it can add up to 400 km of range in just 20 minutes using a 240 kW DC fast charger. Even the “entry-level” CLA 200 manages a respectable 542 km range and can juice up 320 km in the same time—clearly, range anxiety wasn’t invited to this launch event.
But numbers alone don’t define this car. At the heart of the CLA BEV lies MB.OS—Mercedes-Benz’s proprietary operating system—making it the first car in India to debut the brand’s latest digital architecture. The system integrates the fourth-generation MBUX interface, powered by NVIDIA chips capable of delivering a staggering 508 trillion operations per second. In simpler terms, this car thinks faster than most of us on a Monday morning.
Adding to its tech appeal is a next-gen virtual assistant that blends ChatGPT-4, Microsoft Bing, and Google Gemini integration, making conversations with your car feel less robotic and more… human. The assistant doesn’t just respond—it anticipates, guiding routes, suggesting charging stops, and adapting to user behavior.
Safety and intelligence also get a boost with Level 2 ADAS as standard, upgradeable to Level 2+ via OTA updates, supported by NVIDIA’s AI stack. The CLA BEV essentially evolves over time, meaning your car could get smarter even while parked in your driveway.
Design-wise, the CLA BEV stays true to Mercedes-Benz’s “Sensual Purity” philosophy, featuring a sleek fastback silhouette, a drag coefficient of just 0.21, and a striking illuminated front panel with 142 star-pattern elements. It’s a car that ensures you’re noticed—even before you press the accelerator.
To support this high-tech machine, Mercedes-Benz is doubling down on ecosystem development. Its MB.CHARGE Public network now spans over 9,000 charging points across India, while flexible financing options include EMIs starting at ₹62,000 and a guaranteed buyback value of 59%. Ownership is further simplified with an 8-year/160,000 km battery warranty and service packages starting at ₹60,000.
In a notable industry-first move, Mercedes-Benz has also introduced a ‘High-Voltage Battery Report’ for the CLA BEV. This system-generated report provides a transparent assessment of battery health, aiming to build customer trust and simplify EV ownership—because decoding battery data shouldn’t feel like reading a science thesis.
Santosh Iyer, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, highlighted that the CLA BEV represents a decisive step in the brand’s BEV journey, combining cutting-edge technology, high product substance, and a comprehensive ownership ecosystem tailored for India.
With its blend of long range, rapid charging, AI-driven intelligence, and unmistakable design, the CLA BEV isn’t just entering the luxury EV segment—it’s quietly rewriting the rulebook. And judging by the booking numbers, Indian buyers seem more than ready to turn the page.
