Mahindra Ends FY26 in Top Gear: Nearly 1 Lakh Vehicles Sold in March, SUVs Lead the Charge

Mumbai: If there was ever a month when SUVs ruled the Indian roads like kings, March 2026 might just be it—and Mahindra & Mahindra seems to have taken that crown rather seriously.

The homegrown auto giant reported total vehicle sales of 99,969 units in March 2026, registering a healthy 21% year-on-year growth. Just a whisker away from the psychological 1 lakh mark, Mahindra’s performance signals strong momentum as it closes the financial year on a high note.

Driving this growth was the ever-popular Utility Vehicle (UV) segment. Mahindra sold 60,272 SUVs in the domestic market, marking a solid 25% growth, while total UV sales—including exports—stood at 62,109 units. Clearly, India’s love affair with big, bold SUVs is far from over—and Mahindra is happily playing cupid.

Meanwhile, the company’s Commercial Vehicle (CV) segment also chipped in with respectable numbers. Domestic sales of commercial vehicles reached 24,928 units, growing 11% YoY, proving that India’s logistics and small business ecosystem continues to stay on the move.

Looking at the bigger picture, FY2026 turned out to be a record-breaking year for Mahindra. The company achieved its highest-ever annual SUV sales of 6,60,276 units, alongside 2,89,597 Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs under 3.5T). This translated into robust growth rates of 20% for SUVs and 13% for LCVs, reinforcing Mahindra’s stronghold across both personal and commercial mobility segments.

Commenting on the milestone, Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of the Automotive Division at M&M Ltd., highlighted that the financial year ended on a “very positive note,” with record volumes across both SUVs and LCVs—an achievement that underscores the brand’s growing appeal and execution strength.

In simple terms, while many of us were busy closing spreadsheets in March, Mahindra was busy closing deals—and nearly touching six digits in monthly sales. Not bad for a company that seems to have mastered the art of turning torque into triumph.
