Mumbai: JSW Motors Limited, the new energy passenger vehicle arm of the JSW Group, has appointed veteran business journalist Pankaj Doval as Senior Vice President – Corporate Affairs & Public Policy, as the company prepares to launch new energy vehicles and expand its manufacturing operations in Maharashtra.
In his new role, Doval will lead JSW Motors’ engagement with central and state governments, regulatory and policy institutions and industry bodies. He will also oversee corporate affairs and stakeholder advocacy across the organisation.
The appointment comes as JSW Motors scales up its greenfield manufacturing facility at Bidkin in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra, while moving closer to the launch of its new energy vehicle portfolio.
The company’s expansion brings with it a range of policy, regulatory and industrial development considerations, making government and institutional engagement an increasingly important part of its operations. For an automotive company entering a fast-evolving new-energy market, the rulebook can sometimes move almost as quickly as the technology.
Doval joins JSW Motors after nearly three decades in business journalism. He most recently served as National Editor at The Times of India.
During his extended tenure with the Times Group, he held several senior editorial positions, including Senior Assistant Editor in the Corporate and Economy Bureau and Senior Editor.
His reporting and editorial responsibilities covered the automobile, technology, telecom and information technology sectors, along with trade, industrial policy and the broader corporate economy.
Earlier in his career, Doval worked with The Financial Express as well as domestic news agencies Press Trust of India (PTI) and United News of India (UNI).
Across those assignments, his work focused extensively on the intersection of corporate strategy, regulation and public policy — areas that will now form part of his responsibilities from the other side of the table.
Doval is a graduate of Delhi University and holds a Master’s degree in Political Science as well as Mass Communications. He also holds a postgraduate certificate in international journalism from Seoul National University.
His appointment brings long-standing exposure to industries, regulators and policy institutions into JSW Motors’ corporate affairs function at a time when the company is building its presence in India’s emerging new-energy passenger vehicle market.
As JSW Motors moves from manufacturing expansion towards vehicle launches, its ability to navigate regulatory frameworks, government engagement and industrial policy will become an important part of its growth strategy — placing the corporate affairs function firmly alongside engineering and manufacturing in the company’s next phase of development.
