Mahindra Accelerates into 2025 with Robust SUV Sales and Electric Innovations

Mumbai: Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M Ltd.), one of India’s leading automotive companies, kicked off the new year with a strong sales performance in January 2025. The company reported total auto sales of 85,432 vehicles, marking a 16% growth—a figure that includes both domestic and export markets.

A closer look at the Utility Vehicles segment reveals even more impressive gains. Mahindra sold 50,659 SUVs in the domestic market alone, representing an 18% increase compared to previous figures. When exports are factored in, overall SUV sales reached 52,306 vehicles. In addition, domestic sales in the Commercial Vehicles category stood at 23,917 units.

Veejay Nakra, President of the Automotive Division at M&M Ltd., commented on the robust performance:

“We began the new year by selling 50,659 SUVs, a growth of 18% and 85,432 total vehicles, a growth of 16%. Our Electric Origin SUVs, BE6 and XEV 9E garnered a lot of interest at the recently concluded Bharat Mobility Global Expo held in New Delhi. We commenced the test drive for these vehicles on the 14th of January and are excited about bringing these vehicles to our customers. Bookings for these vehicles will commence on 14th February.”

The interest in the Electric Origin SUVs underscores Mahindra’s commitment to innovation and sustainability. The BE6 and XEV 9E, which have already generated significant buzz following their debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo, are poised to become key drivers in the company’s strategy to expand its electric vehicle offerings.

Industry experts note that this surge in sales not only highlights Mahindra’s resilience in a competitive automotive landscape but also reflects the growing consumer demand for versatile, eco-friendly vehicles. With a strategic focus on electrification and product diversification, Mahindra is well-positioned to lead the market as the automotive industry continues its rapid evolution.

As Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. looks ahead to the rest of 2025, the company plans to capitalize on its current momentum. With new electric models and a solid performance across key segments, Mahindra is set to further strengthen its market position and deliver innovative mobility solutions to its customers.
