Airbus H160 Makes U.S. Debut with PHI Aviation

Marignane, France – Airbus has officially launched the H160 helicopter into service in the United States, with PHI Aviation receiving the first unit. This marks the commencement of H160 operations in the U.S., where PHI will deploy four of these advanced helicopters for offshore transportation in the Gulf of Mexico.

Before starting its commercial operations, the newly delivered H160 will undergo a rigorous route-proving program. This initiative aims to showcase the helicopter’s capabilities in the challenging offshore environment, ensuring a seamless entry into service. The program is designed to familiarize both the operator and the end customers with the aircraft’s advanced technology and robust safety features.

“This is an exciting milestone for our teams and partners,” remarked Scott McCarty, CEO of PHI Group. “The H160 represents a new era for PHI, enhancing our commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency for our operations in the Gulf of Mexico. We are proud to officially welcome this next-generation aircraft into our fleet as we kick off route-proving. Congratulations to everyone who helped make this achievement possible!”

Bruno Even, CEO of Airbus Helicopters, emphasized the significance of this delivery: “With its state-of-the-art technology, the H160 has set a new standard in the helicopter industry, and we are pleased U.S. customers will now benefit from the aircraft’s superior performance. The H160’s lower fuel consumption, its ability to use up to 50% blended SAF, comfortable cabin, and excellent cockpit visibility make it ideally suited for offshore operations, and we are confident that it will excel in PHI’s energy missions.”

The H160 has already garnered significant attention in North America, with its first Canadian delivery recently made to Chartright Air Group. Globally, the H160 has entered into service in countries including Brazil, Japan, Saudi Arabia, France, and various European nations, highlighting its growing popularity and reliability across diverse markets.
