Bidadi: Toyota Kirloskar Motor has begun an educational infrastructure project at Government Primary School, Ittamadu, near Bidadi, which will add four classrooms and separate sanitation facilities for boys and girls.
The project is expected to support students from five neighbouring villages and benefit a wider community of more than 3,000 people, according to the company.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Dr. C. N. Manjunath, Member of Parliament from Bengaluru Rural, along with Ramesh Rao, Vice President at Toyota Kirloskar Motor, and other members of the company’s leadership team.
Government Primary School, Ittamadu, serves children from surrounding rural communities and plays a central role in providing primary education in the area. The additional classrooms are intended to address existing space requirements, while the sanitation facilities aim to improve student health, safety and well-being.
Better school infrastructure may not make homework disappear — students are unlikely to get that lucky — but it can provide a more comfortable and supportive environment in which to complete it.
Dr. C. N. Manjunath, Member of Parliament, Bengaluru Rural, said, “The future of our country is shaped in its classrooms, and investing in educational infrastructure is an investment in the nation’s progress. Rural schools need facilities that allow every child to learn with confidence and realize their potential. The initiative undertaken by Toyota Kirloskar Motor at the school in Ittamadu is a meaningful step towards strengthening the educational ecosystem in this region. Such partnerships between industry and society can create lasting change and open new opportunities for future generations.”
Toyota Kirloskar Motor said the initiative forms part of its broader community-development work in rural Karnataka, with a focus on education, skill development and social welfare.
Vikram Gulati, Country Head & Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said, “At Toyota Kirloskar Motor, we view education as one of the most important foundations for community development. While infrastructure alone cannot shape futures, it can create the conditions that allow every child to learn, grow and succeed. This project at Ittamadu reflects our commitment to the communities around Bidadi and our belief that access to quality educational facilities can make a meaningful difference. We will continue to support initiatives that create long-term value and contribute to the development of future generations.”
The automaker is also undertaking an educational infrastructure programme in Bengaluru South that aims to benefit more than 15,000 students.
The Ittamadu project reflects a growing role for partnerships between private companies, local institutions and public representatives in addressing infrastructure gaps in rural schools. For communities around Bidadi, the additions could translate into something both modest and significant: more room to learn and safer facilities for children attending school each day.
