Mumbai: Nissan Motor India Private Limited has launched the all-new Nissan Tekton in India, marking the global premiere of its new premium C-SUV and the latest step in the Japanese carmaker’s efforts to rebuild its presence in the country.
Introductory prices begin at ₹10.49 lakh for the T160 manual variant. The more powerful T280 range starts at ₹14.99 lakh for both the manual-transmission and six-speed dual-clutch automatic versions. Bookings have opened through Nissan’s dealerships and digital platforms across India.
Manufactured at Nissan’s Chennai plant, the Tekton has been developed under the company’s “One Car, One World” strategy. Apart from serving the Indian market, the SUV will be exported to regions including the Middle East and Africa.
The Tekton is Nissan’s second new product in India in 2026, following the all-new GRAVITE. The company is positioning the model as an important part of its SUV-led resurgence strategy in one of the world’s most competitive passenger-vehicle markets.

Two turbocharged engine options
The Tekton will be offered with an entirely turbocharged engine line-up comprising Turbo T160 and Turbo T280 options.
The Turbo T280 produces up to 163 PS and 280 Nm of torque. It can be paired with either a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed wet-clutch dual-clutch transmission featuring an electronic gear selector.
The Turbo T160 is available with a manual transmission and has a claimed fuel efficiency of 19.4 kmpl. Nissan claims an efficiency figure of 18.5 kmpl for the Turbo T280.
Both engines use Mirror Bore Coating technology derived from the Nissan GT-R. The system is designed to reduce friction within the engine and improve performance and efficiency — a small piece of supercar engineering finding its way into a considerably more family-oriented parking space.
The SUV also offers two drive modes with corresponding ambient-light settings. Drivers can adjust steering effort through the infotainment system, selecting a lighter setting for urban conditions or greater steering weight for highway driving.
Nissan said tuned shock absorbers and dual anti-roll bars have been used to improve ride quality and handling over varied Indian road conditions.
Design influenced by the Nissan Patrol
The Tekton’s exterior takes inspiration from the Nissan Patrol, the company’s long-running full-size SUV.
Its front design includes a full-width chrome-accented grille, a contrasting skid plate and C-shaped five-chamber connected LED headlamps. The SUV also receives muscular wheel arches, flush roof rails and aerodynamically designed spoilers.
At the rear, C-shaped connected LED tail-lamps form part of what Nissan calls its SynchroFlow lighting design. A piano-black “Majestic Himalayan Crest” element has also been incorporated into the rear styling.
The company says the Tekton draws on 75 years of Nissan SUV development, while adapting the design for the dimensions and requirements of India’s C-SUV category.
Speaking at the premiere, Guillaume Cartier, Chief Performance Officer, Nissan, said, “We are building a stronger and more competitive Nissan in India. As we continue to strengthen our SUV-led portfolio and sharpen our market focus, the World Premiere of the all-new Nissan Tekton reflects our ambition to combine global product strength with deep local relevance. Tekton is a clear expression of how Nissan is transforming with purpose – towards a more competitive, future-ready portfolio.”
Dual displays and Google built-in connectivity
Inside, the Tekton receives a driver-oriented dashboard with two digital displays. These include a 10.1-inch Tek-Link HD infotainment screen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.
The infotainment system comes with Google built-in, providing native access to Google Maps, Google Assistant and Google Play. Nissan says occupants will be able to access more than 200 compatible applications covering navigation, music and entertainment.
Users can sign in with their personal Google accounts to access saved preferences. Google Assistant can also be used for navigation, media, phone functions and selected vehicle controls, including the air-conditioning system.
Navigation instructions can be displayed on the digital instrument cluster, while the MyNissan application provides more than 55 connected-car functions.
Other equipment includes an Infinity View panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control with voice assistance, a 48-colour ambient-lighting system, an Arkamys 3D Auditorium surround-sound system, an air-cooled wireless charger and an air purifier with a Plasmacluster ioniser and air-quality display.
The cabin uses a three-tone beige, burgundy and rose-gold colour scheme, along with leatherette upholstery, soft-touch surfaces and contrast stitching.
Higher-specification equipment includes powered and ventilated front seats with lumbar adjustment, adjustable boomerang-profile headrests, a double D-cut steering wheel and an elevated centre console. Automatic variants receive a fly-by-wire electronic gear selector.
Ground clearance and 700-litre boot
The Nissan Tekton has 212 mm of ground clearance and offers up to 700 litres of luggage capacity.
Nissan claims the SUV provides segment-leading approach and departure angles, although detailed figures were not disclosed in the announcement.
Convenience features include a powered tailgate with anti-pinch protection, a low loading edge, approach-based automatic unlocking and walk-away locking.
The SUV also receives a 360-degree parking-assistance system and a 3D Intelligent Around View Monitor to help drivers manoeuvre in tight spaces — an increasingly valuable skill as Indian parking bays appear to shrink faster than the vehicles entering them.
Six airbags standard, over 17 ADAS functions
Six airbags will be fitted as standard across the Tekton range. Nissan says the vehicle offers more than 40 standard safety features and uses 62% high-strength and ultra-high-strength steel in its monocoque construction.
High-strength material has also been used around the A- and B-pillars to improve structural rigidity and occupant protection.
The Tekton’s advanced driver-assistance package includes more than 17 functions. These include adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, autonomous emergency braking, forward-collision warning, lane-keeping assistance and lane-departure warning.
Blind-spot warning, driver-attention alert and traffic-sign recognition are also included. Drivers will be able to select which ADAS functions they want activated.
Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India, said, “Nissan’s resurgence in India is taking formidable shape, driven by a sharper product focus, network expansion and a deeper understanding of what Indian customers truly value. Tekton is the flagship proof point of Nissan’s India resurgence. It has been crafted to deliver commanding presence, unmistakable luxury, intelligent technology, confident performance and everyday practicality in a package that is made in India and ready for the world.”
India positioned as an export and production hub
The Tekton forms part of Nissan’s plan to use India as both a consumer market and a manufacturing base for international markets.
Massimiliano Messina, Chairperson, AMIEO Region, Nissan, said, “India is powering Nissan’s growth across markets and regions. Tekton is a strong example of our ‘One Car, One World’ approach – a global product engineered through India, manufactured for Indian customers and developed for export markets across the region. It strengthens India’s role as a growth engine and SUV production hub for Nissan.”
Thierry Sabbagh, DVP – President, Middle East, KSA, India, CIS – Nissan and Infiniti, added, “Tekton is a strong signal of our capability, bringing global SUV excellence to India. Following the launch of the all-new Gravite, the World Premiere of the all-new Nissan Tekton accelerates our resurgence journey and strengthens our SUV portfolio in India. Tekton combines bold design, premium features, advanced technology and strong SUV character in a way that aligns with evolving customer expectations.”
With the Tekton, Nissan is entering the heart of India’s crowded C-SUV market with an unusually broad equipment list, two turbocharged engines and an export-focused manufacturing programme. Its larger significance, however, will depend on whether the new model can translate Nissan’s renewed product push into stronger sales, wider customer consideration and a more durable presence in India.
