Almaty, Kazakhstan — Green SM has officially launched its all-electric ride-hailing service in Kazakhstan, marking the company’s first entry into Central Asia and its sixth international market.
The service has initially started in Almaty, Kazakhstan’s largest city, with a fleet of VinFast VF 6 Eco electric SUVs. The launch is part of Green SM’s broader international expansion strategy as the company seeks to take its electric mobility model beyond Southeast Asia and India.

The launch ceremony in Almaty was attended by Nguyen Thanh Le, Appointed Ambassador of Viet Nam to Kazakhstan; Berikbol Shatabayevich Mandibayev, Head of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Investment of Almaty; representatives of the Government of Kazakhstan; officials from the Embassy of Vietnam in Kazakhstan; and partners from the transportation, energy, technology, finance, infrastructure and service sectors.
Green SM said the VinFast VF 6 Eco vehicles will be used for everyday urban travel in Almaty, offering quiet operation, a comfortable cabin and modern safety features. For a city balancing rapid development with growing expectations for better urban services, a quieter ride may be a small luxury — but one regular commuters are unlikely to complain about.
The company is also focusing on driver training as part of its Kazakhstan operations. Green SM said its Green Drivers will undergo training in operations, safety and customer service to maintain consistent service standards and provide dependable transportation experiences.
To mark the launch, Green SM is offering customers a 26% promotion, with a discount of up to KZT 2,626 for rides booked through the Green SM application. The service is now available in Kazakhstan through the Green SM app on the App Store and Google Play.
Alongside the ride-hailing launch, Green SM has announced partnerships with five strategic partners across transportation, tourism, technology and service sectors under its Green Alliance Frontier initiative. The platform is intended to connect organizations committed to sustainable development and local community impact across different markets.
Nguyen Quoc Tuan, Global Chief Executive Officer of GSM, said: “Kazakhstan is a market with strong potential, dynamic growth, and rising expectations for modern services. We come to Kazakhstan with respect for the market, a long-term commitment to investment, and a desire to work alongside local partners in developing high-quality mobility solutions that meet the everyday needs of the community. At Green SM, we believe sustainable growth must be built on trust and meaningful value for society. That is the foundation we hope to build together with our customers, partners, and the people of Kazakhstan in the years ahead.”
Kazakhstan’s urban centers have been expanding rapidly, accompanied by rising demand for improved services and better quality of life. Green SM said its entry into the country reflects its long-term goal of bringing all-electric mobility solutions to more regions around the world.
Founded in Vietnam in 2023, Green SM currently operates across Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia, the Philippines, India and Kazakhstan. With an all-electric fleet, a technology-driven platform and standardized operations, the company is positioning itself as a growing player in sustainable urban mobility.
The Kazakhstan launch gives Green SM a foothold in Central Asia, a region where modern transport services are evolving quickly. For the company, Almaty is not just another pin on the map; it is a test of whether electric ride-hailing can travel well across new markets, different roads and fresh commuter expectations.
