Hyundai Drives Welfare Access in Maharashtra with Project Adhikaar Connect Expansion in Pune

In a country where paperwork can sometimes feel longer than a Bollywood movie interval, Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF) has decided to bring government welfare services closer to the people — quite literally on wheels.

Hyundai Motor India Foundation, the CSR arm of Hyundai Motor India Limited, has launched Project Adhikaar Connect in Pune’s Maval region, strengthening its growing social footprint in Maharashtra. The initiative includes the inauguration of an Adhikaar Connect Kendra and the flagging off of dedicated Adhikaar Connect Vans aimed at helping underserved citizens access government welfare and social security schemes without getting lost in the maze of forms, documents, and office visits.

The Pune rollout forms part of HMIF’s broader ₹56 crore social development commitment in Maharashtra, previously announced in the presence of the state’s Chief Minister. And unlike many CSR projects that stay confined to PowerPoint presentations, this one plans to hit the ground running — or rather, driving.

Project Adhikaar Connect is designed to assist vulnerable and underserved communities with documentation, eligibility guidance, application support, and doorstep outreach for various welfare schemes. The initiative hopes to bridge the gap between government benefits and citizens who often struggle to navigate complex administrative systems.

HMIF says the programme could help unlock social security benefits worth over ₹350 crore for citizens across Maharashtra. More importantly, it aims to positively impact over one lakh people annually, particularly in remote and underserved regions where access to welfare services often remains patchy.

One of the initiative’s key features is the introduction of a digital “Yojana Card,” which will help beneficiaries maintain structured records while making welfare access more streamlined and transparent. The Adhikaar Connect Kendras will also serve as local support hubs offering financial literacy programmes, digital enablement assistance, and skill-building opportunities.

To ensure the initiative reaches the grassroots level effectively, HMIF is deploying nearly 200 trained “Adhikaar Sakhis” and community volunteers. Supported by mobile outreach vehicles called Adhikaar Connect Vahans, these field workers will help citizens complete documentation, understand scheme eligibility, and access services directly within villages and remote locations.

Currently active in Pune, Nashik, and Gurugram, the initiative is also expanding into Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district — a move that underlines Hyundai’s focus on reaching communities that often remain outside the mainstream welfare delivery network.

Commenting on the initiative, Puneet Anand, AVP & Vertical Head – Corporate Affairs, Corporate Communication & Social, HMIL, said Hyundai believes real social impact begins when citizens can access opportunities and welfare systems with dignity and confidence. He added that Maharashtra remains a key focus state for the company and that Project Adhikaar Connect reflects Hyundai’s long-term commitment towards inclusive and community-driven development.

The programme is being implemented on-ground by Haqdarshak Empowerment Solutions Private Limited, HMIF’s implementation partner known for its expertise in last-mile welfare delivery through digital and human-assisted support systems.

With welfare vans now ready to roll into villages, Hyundai’s latest CSR initiative is attempting something refreshingly practical — ensuring that benefits meant for citizens actually reach citizens. And in India, that may just be the real “connected car” experience.
