Bengaluru: Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has kicked off 2026 on a strong note, reporting total sales of 33,880 units in January 2026, marking a healthy growth over the 29,371 units sold in January 2025.
Of the total, 30,630 units were sold in the domestic market, while 3,250 units were exported, underlining Toyota’s steady traction both at home and abroad. In simple terms, Toyota’s January performance suggests that Indian customers are still firmly in the “reliable, low-stress mobility” phase of life—and Toyota continues to be their comfort brand of choice.
The momentum was powered by sustained demand across Toyota’s core portfolio, reflecting the brand’s consistent focus on quality, durability, and strong resale value—attributes that have quietly become Toyota’s unofficial “three airbags” in the Indian market.
Commenting on the sales performance, Sabari Manohar, Executive Vice President, Sales-Service-Used Car Business, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said:
“The year 2026 started on a positive and encouraging note, with continued momentum of our product portfolio and customers’ trust in our commitment to quality, safety and sustainability. A key highlight during January was the launch of the All-Electric Urban Cruiser Ebella, further strengthening our focus on delivering future-ready mobility solutions aligned with evolving customer expectations. This launch marks a significant step in enhancing our value proposition and reinforces our continued support to India’s transition towards carbon neutrality, greener and sustainable mobility.”
The All-Electric Urban Cruiser Ebella emerged as the headline act of the month, marking Toyota’s growing push into the EV space. While the name may be long enough to need its own parking slot, the strategy is clear—Toyota wants to balance its legendary reliability with future-ready electrification.
With a strong start to the year, Toyota appears well-positioned for 2026, combining stable sales numbers with a forward-looking EV roadmap. And if January is anything to go by, Toyota’s formula seems to be working: keep things dependable, add a dash of electric, and let the numbers do the talking—quietly, efficiently, and right on schedule.
