Domestic sales cross 59,000 units, total sales touch 73,137 as VENUE and AURA lead the charge
Gurugram: If January is supposed to be a slow month after New Year celebrations, nobody told Hyundai Motor India Limited. The Korean carmaker has begun 2026 in full-throttle mode, recording its highest-ever monthly domestic sales of 59,107 units, marking a healthy 9.5% year-on-year growth.
Not stopping there, HMIL also clocked its highest-ever total monthly sales of 73,137 units, growing 11.5% YoY, thanks to a strong export performance of 14,030 units, which itself grew by an impressive 20.9%. In simple terms: more cars on Indian roads, and even more cars sailing out of Indian ports.
Small Cars, Big Wins
Two of Hyundai’s popular compact models stole the spotlight:
- Hyundai Venue: 12,413 units (highest-ever monthly sales)
- Hyundai Aura: 7,978 units (highest-ever monthly sales)
Clearly, Indian buyers continue to love their compact, feature-packed and wallet-friendly cars—proof that size doesn’t matter, but mileage, features and peace of mind definitely do.
Exports: Made in India, Loved Worldwide
Hyundai’s export numbers underline India’s growing role as a global manufacturing hub. With nearly 14,000 units shipped abroad in a single month, HMIL is not just selling cars—it’s exporting confidence, reliability and a little bit of “Make in India” pride to international markets.
What Hyundai Says
Commenting on the milestone, Tarun Garg, MD & CEO, HMIL, said:
“January 2026 marks a defining chapter in Hyundai Motor India’s journey. Achieving our highest-ever monthly domestic sales of 59,107 units, alongside highest-ever total sales of 73,137 units with a strong 11.5% year-on-year growth, reflects not only Hyundai’s brand leadership but also the collective strength of our people, partners and customers. The remarkable 20.9% growth in exports to 14,030 units underscores the trust brand Hyundai continues to inspire across global markets.”
In other words: customers are happy, factories are busy, and ships are leaving ports fully loaded.
The Bigger Picture
With consistent product refreshes, strong dealership networks, and increasing global demand, Hyundai’s January 2026 performance sets a confident tone for the year ahead. If this momentum continues, HMIL might soon need to redefine what “record-breaking” even means.
Because at this rate, Hyundai isn’t just starting 2026 on a high note—it’s practically doing a victory lap in January itself.
