Blue Energy Motors Shifts Gears: $50 Million Raised to Turbocharge India’s Green Trucking Drive

Mumbai, September 18, 2025 — If you thought the trucking industry was all smoke and diesel, Blue Energy Motors (BEM) has just shifted the narrative into the fast lane of green mobility. The company, India’s leading maker of LNG and electric heavy-duty trucks, has now topped up its fuel tank with a fresh funding round, bringing its total raised capital to a cool $50 million. That’s the kind of number that makes even oil barrels blush.

Investors in the Driver’s Seat

This latest round saw $30 million rolling in from Nikhil Kamath (the man who never misses a bet) and Omnitex Industries, joining strategic backers Essar and FPT (Iveco Group), who’ve been steering the technology and capital horsepower behind BEM’s ambitions. With this pit crew, the company looks ready for a long haul of zero-emission victories.

Capacity Unlocked: From Parking Lot to Highway

BEM currently has the horsepower to manufacture 10,000 trucks annually. The fresh funding will allow them to fully unleash this potential—scaling up production, pushing forward on LNG and EV truck development, and making sure India’s highways get a little quieter, a lot cleaner, and maybe even slightly cooler.

So far, 1,000 of BEM’s LNG trucks have already hit the road, clocking an impressive 60 million kilometres while collectively cutting 15,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions. To put that in perspective: that’s like preventing an entire fleet of autorickshaws from honking their way around Earth 1,500 times.

The Road Ahead

Anirudh Bhuwalka, Founder & Managing Director, kept the accelerator pressed in his remarks:

“The fresh fund raise empowers Blue Energy Motors to accelerate India’s shift to clean, sustainable freight transportation. By harnessing both LNG and electric truck technologies, we’re steering India toward a zero-emission freight future—and hopefully, toward fewer jokes about smelly diesel trucks.”

Investor Nikhil Kamath chimed in, sounding almost zen about logistics:

“The future of logistics will be built on clean, scalable tech. The real opportunity lies in solutions that deliver disruption quietly and efficiently. And Blue Energy has done just that—though their trucks are far from silent when honking at a toll booth.”

Adding fuel to the optimism, Anshuman Ruia, Director at Essar, said:

“Essar’s continued investment reflects our confidence in BEM’s innovative approach to decarbonising heavy-duty transportation. After all, if you can make trucks eco-friendly in India, you can pretty much do anything.”

Why This Matters

Freight transport contributes nearly 15% of India’s total carbon emissions. As India eyes a greener tomorrow, BEM seems set to lead the convoy, one LNG and EV truck at a time.

So the next time you’re stuck behind a massive trailer on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, take comfort: that smoke-free giant could well be one of BEM’s, quietly saving the planet while still testing your patience in traffic.
