Tata Motors Sells 73,178 Vehicles in August – Trucks Flex, SUVs Sulk, and Buses Keep Rolling

Mumbai: Tata Motors Limited announced that its domestic and international sales in August 2025 clocked in at 73,178 units, a modest step up from the 71,693 units sold in the same month last year. The company might not be throwing a disco in its headquarters just yet, but the balance sheet surely had a few reasons to smile.

On the Commercial Vehicle (CV) side of things, Tata Motors moved 29,863 units, a 10% year-on-year growth – proving once again that India’s love for trucks and buses is as sturdy as the vehicles themselves. In fact, the Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicle (MH&ICV) segment sold 13,405 units domestically (compared to 12,008 units last August), with the overall domestic plus international tally at 14,667 units. Clearly, Tata’s trucks are flexing their muscles while humming “Highway to Heaven.”

The Passenger Vehicle (PV) division, however, hit a small speed breaker. With 43,315 units sold, the segment faced a 3% decline YoY, perhaps reminding us that even SUVs sometimes need a breather before their next sprint. But in true Tata style, the company shrugged it off – because when your buses are full and your trucks are busy carrying everything from coconuts to construction steel, a dip in passenger car sales looks like a temporary detour, not a dead end.

Industry watchers note that while SUVs faced a little slowdown (likely thanks to GST clouds looming over the horizon), Tata’s commercial division provided the much-needed horsepower to keep the company’s momentum alive.

So, in summary: Tata Motors had a month where its trucks were busy being gym freaks, its buses kept the wheels of India turning, and its SUVs took a short nap – only to return with festive season adrenaline very soon.
