Maruti Suzuki’s New JIM Rolls Out Admissions: Where Torque Meets Textbooks in Sonipat

Sonipat: In a move that fuses Japanese manufacturing precision with desi determination, Maruti Suzuki India Limited has officially thrown open the doors for admissions to its fourth Japan-India Institute for Manufacturing (JIM), this time in Sonipat, Haryana. The first batch is expected to start revving its theoretical engines in September 2025, with over 100 eager students learning to weld, fit, machine, and motor-mechanic their way into the auto industry.

With this, Maruti Suzuki now has a quartet of JIMs in India—Mehsana, Gandhinagar, Uncha Majra, and the latest pit stop, Sonipat. It’s also their second JIM in Haryana, confirming the state’s rising reputation as the Nürburgring of Indian skill-building. Backed by an investment of over ₹10 crore, this facility is more than just a school—it’s a factory for future factory stars.

The institute, located at Master Atul Govt. ITI, will offer training in four trades: Mechanic Motor Vehicle (MMV), Machinist, Welder, and Fitter. But don’t expect just nuts and bolts—students will be fine-tuned with safety, kaizen, quality, discipline, and the kind of meticulous mindset that turns a basic bolt-tightener into a lean-manufacturing legend.

Endorsing the initiative like a pit crew chief at the final lap, Shri Gaurav Gautam, Haryana’s Minister of State for Youth Empowerment, said, “Maruti Suzuki’s efforts aren’t just teaching kids how to turn spanners—they’re turning dreams into drive shafts of the economy. This aligns perfectly with our Hon’ble Prime Minister’s ‘Skill India Mission’ and gives Haryana’s youth the horsepower to accelerate into industry-ready roles.”

Echoing the enthusiasm, Mr. Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer, Corporate Affairs, Maruti Suzuki, said, “We’re not just building skills—we’re building confidence, character, and clutch control. With two JIMs now in Haryana, we’re proud to steer young talent into the fast lane of the automotive ecosystem.”

The JIM Sonipat follows a dual system of training, blending classroom wisdom with shop floor know-how. And in true Japanese fashion, the curriculum includes rigorous lessons in orderliness, precision, and improvement—or as they say in the East: Kaizen before krazein.

The facility is the result of a public-private pit stop partnership. The Haryana government has supplied the land and building, while Maruti Suzuki has rolled up its sleeves to handle civil upgrades, install equipment (including an assembly line simulator), design training modules, and manage the operations—because even education needs a gearbox.

With JIM Sonipat now live and roaring, it seems Maruti Suzuki is not just manufacturing cars anymore. They’re manufacturing careers—with alloyed ambition and chrome-plated confidence.
