Mumbai – Move over emotional farewells and teary goodbyes, because Tata Motors has found a dignified and eco-friendly way to part with your four-wheeled (or two- and three-wheeled) companions. India’s automotive heavyweight has hit the accelerator on sustainability with the inauguration of two new Re.Wi.Re — Recycle with Respect — vehicle scrapping facilities in Lucknow and Raipur, marking yet another milestone in India’s journey toward a circular economy.

These state-of-the-art facilities were virtually inaugurated by the Hon’ble Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, who continues to be the turbocharged engine behind India’s scrappage revolution. “These centres are not just about crushing metal — they are about building a cleaner, greener future, one clunker at a time,” said the Minister, as he gave the green signal to India’s latest pit stops for responsible recycling.
The Raipur facility, operated by Raipur Green Energy Pvt. Ltd., will handle up to 25,000 vehicles per year — that’s a lot of metal memories. Meanwhile, the Lucknow unit, in the capable hands of Moto Scrapland Pvt. Ltd., will respectfully retire 15,000 vehicles annually, from passenger hatchbacks to tired tempos.
Girish Wagh, Executive Director at Tata Motors, quipped, “At Tata Motors, sustainability isn’t an accessory — it’s part of the chassis.” With 10 Re.Wi.Re centres now dotting the Indian map, Tata Motors is well on its way to dismantling 1.75 lakh vehicles a year, responsibly and respectfully — no scrap left behind.
Each Re.Wi.Re facility is a marvel in motion — fully digital, paperless, and surprisingly graceful for something that deals in retired radiators and balding tyres. The centres have dedicated zones to safely dismantle everything from stubborn fuel tanks to tired old batteries, ensuring nothing pollutes, leaks, or lingers.
So, if your vehicle has seen better days and now only honks when it feels like it, there’s good news — it can now bow out with dignity, thanks to Tata Motors’ expanding Re.Wi.Re empire. Because even cars deserve a respectful send-off — especially after carrying your groceries, in-laws, and the occasional over-enthusiastic road trip crew for all these years.
Re.Wi.Re. – Because recycling, like driving, should always be done with respect.
