All-New Škoda Kodiaq Arrives in India to Roar Through Cities and Climb Mountains (in Style), Starts at INR 46.89 lakh

Mumbai – Škoda Auto India is celebrating its 25th year in the country not with cake, but with torque. Enter the all-new second-generation Škoda Kodiaq – a luxury 4×4 SUV that’s equally at home in a corporate parking lot as it is pretending it’s on a National Geographic expedition.

With online bookings now live and deliveries commencing May 2, the new Kodiaq doesn’t just arrive—it makes an entrance. Think of it as that suave friend who hikes in designer shoes but still somehow beats everyone to the summit.

The Heart of a Predator, The Soul of a Butler

Under the bonnet lives a 2.0 TSI engine that growls out 150kW and 320Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch DSG. That’s enough to haul your family, your dog, your furniture, and probably your neighbour’s envy up a mountain or across a mall parking lot—all in premium silence.

Built on the MQB37 platform, the Kodiaq also gets all-wheel drive, giving you all-terrain confidence with the road manners of a chauffeured diplomat. And yes, it’s assembled right here in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, which means you get European flair with Indian sensibility (and service centers you can actually find).

Roomier Than Your First Apartment

This new Kodiaq is 59mm longer than its predecessor, making space for even more opinions during family road trips. At 4,758mm long, 1,864mm wide, and with a cavernous 1,976 litres of luggage space (with all seats down), this seven-seater is ready for school runs, Leh-Ladakh adventures, or a post-shopping-spree therapy session.

With ground clearance at 155mm, it manages to keep its posture even when the road gives up trying.

Interior: Where SUVs Go for Spa Days

Inside, the Kodiaq lives its best lounge life. You get Ergo front seats with pneumatic massage functions, Smart Dials that feel like sci-fi fidget spinners, and an infotainment system that’s larger than your childhood TV (32.77 cm). Want to switch between HVAC, audio, and drive modes? Just twirl the dials like you’re dialing into the future.

Two interior moods cater to two types of people: All-black sporty trim for the serious ones, and Cognac leather for those who think champagne pairs well with mountain views.

Oh, and the rear passengers? They get tablet holders. Because in 2025, even your 8-year-old’s cartoons deserve luxury.

Safety: Because Bravado Needs Backup

Škoda isn’t kidding around. The Kodiaq gets 9 airbags, sliding panoramic sunroof, acoustic glass for your “I need silence” days, and a 725W Canton sound system to drown out backseat karaoke. There’s even rolling sunblinds, just in case you want to reenact a dramatic exit at a red light.

Outside: Like a Gym Body in a Tuxedo

The LED Beam Crystallinium headlamps now come with a Welcome Effect—yes, the car literally greets you. The Sportline trim is blacked-out and brooding, while the Selection L&K wears Dark Chrome like an executive who moonlights as a rockstar.

From the light strip on the grille to the taillamps joined by a red bar, the Kodiaq looks ready to star in its own spy movie.

Six colours are available—including the Sportline-exclusive Steel Grey and the L&K-only Bronx Gold (because normal gold wasn’t posh enough).

Ownership: Luxury That Doesn’t Leave You on Read

The Kodiaq comes with:

  • 5-year/125,000 km warranty
  • 10 years of free roadside assistance
  • 1-year complimentary Škoda Supercare

Basically, it’s like getting a concierge service with wheels.

Legacy of the Kodiak Bear (Minus the Claws)

Ever since its debut in 2017, the Kodiaq has stood for everything rugged, plush, and proudly Škoda. Its name is inspired by Alaska’s Kodiak Island and its grizzly resident, but with the new gen—it’s more James Bond than jungle beast.

As Škoda embraces a “K to Q” naming strategy (hello, Kylaq), the Kodiaq continues to lead the pack—luxuriously, of course.

So if you’re in the market for a seven-seat SUV that can flex at both parent-teacher meetings and forest trails, it might be time to say: “Kodiaq me in.”
