10 years, 1.2 million hearts, and now one giant leap to the top spot — Creta conquers all roads (and spreadsheets).
Gurugram: The Hyundai Creta, affectionately referred to by fans as the SUV that never sleeps, has officially taken the crown as the highest-selling vehicle in India in March 2025. With 18,059 units sold in just 31 days, the Creta didn’t just drive past the competition—it overtook them in cruise control with the windows down and the sunroof wide open.
And it wasn’t just a monthly mic drop. The Creta wrapped up FY 2024–25 with a record-smashing 1,94,871 units sold, representing a 20% year-on-year sales growth. That’s not just a win; it’s a masterclass in market domination. The numbers say it all: Creta is now not only India’s best-selling SUV but also the third highest-selling passenger vehicle across the entire Indian auto industry for the year.
SUV Goals, Activated
In Q4 alone (Jan–Mar 2025), the Creta clocked 52,898 units, confirming its status as the nation’s four-wheeled sweetheart. What’s driving this success? Well, besides the wheels:
- 24% of ICE variant buyers opted for top trims (because why settle for less when you can go full luxury?).
- The Creta Electric wasn’t just green—it was gold, with 71% of buyers choosing top trims.
- Sunroofs were the star accessory, featuring in 69% of all units sold. Clearly, Indian drivers are really into sunny dispositions and dramatic Instagram stories.
- Connected car features contributed to 38% of total sales, because who doesn’t want their car to talk back (nicely)?
Hyundai Speaks (and flexes)
Tarun Garg, Whole-Time Director and COO of Hyundai Motor India Ltd., shared the sentiment:
“Creta’s rise to the top reflects its deep-rooted emotional bond with Indian customers. With 1.2 million units on the road, it’s not just an SUV—it’s a trusted companion with a sunroof.”
He also credited the Creta Electric for widening the brand’s appeal, noting that SUVs now account for 68.5% of Hyundai’s total sales, up from 63.2% last year. Basically, the Creta isn’t just selling — it’s converting the masses.
