‘Made in India’ Suzuki Jimny Nomade 5-Door Debuts in Japan, Priced at INR 14.85 Lakh

New Delhi: The much-anticipated ‘Made in India’ Jimny 5-Door was officially launched in Japan today. Originally showcased at Auto Expo 2023 in India, this rugged off-roader has quickly become Maruti Suzuki’s second most-exported model in FY 2024-25.

Maruti Suzuki Strengthens Global Footprint

Manufactured exclusively at Maruti Suzuki’s Gurugram facility in Haryana, the Jimny 5-Door is an extension of the company’s strong export strategy. Already available in nearly 100 countries, the debut of this iconic SUV in Japan marks a significant milestone. It is now the second Maruti Suzuki SUV after the Fronx to be exported to Suzuki Motor Corporation’s home market in FY 2024-25.

Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, expressed pride in the achievement: “The introduction of the ‘Made in India’ Jimny 5-Door in Japan is a testament to our world-class manufacturing capabilities. This is our second model, after the Fronx, to be exported to Japan in FY 2024-25. Given the Jimny’s tremendous success in markets such as Mexico, Australia, and South Africa, we are confident that it will resonate well with Japanese customers. The export of Jimny reinforces our commitment to ‘Make in India for the world’.”

Jimny’s Global Legacy

With a heritage spanning over 50 years, the Jimny remains a best-seller worldwide. Suzuki has sold over 3.5 million units of the Jimny across 199 countries and regions. While the 3-Door Jimny was already available in Japan, the new 5-Door variant aims to expand its appeal further. By leveraging Maruti Suzuki’s manufacturing prowess, Suzuki plans to meet rising global demand for this legendary off-roader.

Maruti Suzuki’s Export Performance in 2024

Maruti Suzuki solidified its position as India’s top passenger vehicle exporter in CY 2024, shipping over 3.23 lakh vehicles to approximately 100 countries. The company now holds a 43.5% share of India’s total passenger vehicle exports in the same period. The Fronx, which was introduced to the Japanese market in August 2024, has received a strong consumer response, further strengthening Maruti Suzuki’s foothold in international markets.

All-New Jimny Nomade Set for Japan Launch on April 3, 2025

Suzuki Motor Corporation has announced that the Jimny Nomade, the first-ever 5-Door Jimny, will launch in Japan on April 3, 2025. Starting from 2,651,000 yen (INR 14.85 lakh) this new model embodies the concept of a “five-door compact cross-country 4×4 with authentic off-road capability.” Retaining the Jimny’s renowned ruggedness, the Nomade offers enhanced accessibility and comfort for four adult passengers, thanks to its extended wheelbase and additional rear doors.

Design & Features

The Jimny Nomade boasts a distinctive five-slot front grille with gun-metallic paint and a plated frame, adding a premium touch. Customers can choose from six exterior colors, including two brand-new shades—Sizzling Red Metallic, a vibrant pearl red, and Celestial Blue Pearl Metallic, exuding a luxurious feel.

The longer wheelbase improves rear-seat accessibility and comfort, while a larger luggage compartment enhances convenience. Despite these modifications, the Jimny Nomade remains true to its off-road DNA, featuring a ladder frame chassis, FR layout, part-time 4WD with low-range transfer gear, and 3-link rigid axle suspension. The extended wheelbase further enhances both straight-line stability and maneuverability.

Safety & Technology Enhancements

Suzuki has upgraded the Jimny Nomade with advanced safety features, including Dual Camera Brake Support for collision mitigation and adaptive cruise control, ensuring a safer and more comfortable driving experience.

With the introduction of the Jimny 5-Door in Japan and the upcoming Jimny Nomade, Maruti Suzuki continues to reinforce its presence in global markets. This landmark achievement underscores India’s growing role as a key player in global automotive manufacturing and innovation.
