Tata Motors and Tata International Launch Re.Wi.Re, India’s Premier Vehicle Recycling Hub in Pune

Pune, 30th November 2024 – In a significant leap toward sustainable mobility, Tata Motors and Tata International have unveiled their advanced Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF) in Pune. Aptly named Re.Wi.Re – Recycle with Respect, the facility sets a new benchmark in India’s automotive recycling landscape. Designed to process 21,000 end-of-life vehicles annually, Re.Wi.Re underscores the Tata Group’s commitment to environmental responsibility and circular economy principles.

A Partnership for Progress
Operated by Tata International Vehicle Applications (TIVA), a subsidiary of Tata International, the facility is equipped to dismantle passenger and commercial vehicles from all brands. It joins a network of five Re.Wi.Re facilities already operational across India, including Jaipur, Bhubaneshwar, Surat, Chandigarh, and Delhi NCR.

During the inauguration, Girish Wagh, Executive Director, Tata Motors, highlighted the broader vision behind Re.Wi.Re. “This facility is a testament to Tata Motors’ resolve to shape the future of mobility by creating value for our customers and communities. Re.Wi.Re is more than a recycling facility—it’s a commitment to sustainability, safety, and innovation in vehicle recycling.”

Rajeev Batra, CEO of TIVA, emphasized the transformative potential of the facility. “Re.Wi.Re represents a pivotal moment in India’s journey toward organized and sustainable vehicle recycling. By efficiently dismantling 21,000 vehicles annually, this facility addresses the need for cleaner, safer recycling solutions, contributing to India’s regulatory and environmental goals.”

Technology-Driven Sustainability
The Pune facility integrates cutting-edge processes and technology to ensure eco-friendly dismantling. Fully digitalized and paperless, the operations prioritize efficiency and safety. Specialized stations meticulously handle tyres, batteries, fuels, and other components, adhering to India’s vehicle scrappage policy. Whether it’s line-type dismantling for passenger vehicles or cell-type dismantling for commercial ones, every step is engineered for sustainability.

Expanding Horizons
TIVA, already a leader in trailer and truck body manufacturing with four advanced plants in Ajmer, Jamshedpur, and Pune, sees Re.Wi.Re as a vital extension of its capabilities. The facility reflects TIVA’s commitment to shaping a cleaner, greener future for India’s automotive sector.

The Road Ahead
As the Indian automotive industry pivots toward sustainable practices, Re.Wi.Re is a crucial milestone. It aligns with global trends in responsible recycling while fostering an organized ecosystem for end-of-life vehicle management.

The Pune facility marks not just an expansion of Tata Motors and Tata International’s capabilities but a significant step toward redefining India’s vehicle lifecycle management. With Re.Wi.Re, the Tata Group leads the charge in ensuring that the end of the road for vehicles also means a new beginning for sustainability.
