Toyota India Champions Education and Community Engagement in 31st iCARE Event

Bangalore, 28 October 2024: In celebration of World Student’s Month, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) marked its 31st iCare initiative with a powerful community engagement project at Government High School in Ullal Upanagara, near Kengeri. This month-long event saw 200 dedicated TKM employees join hands with 100 students to transform the school environment through hands-on infrastructure improvements.

Aligning with October’s World Student’s Month theme, which emphasizes the impact of student involvement on the future, TKM focused its iCare efforts on boosting the educational experience at the school. Volunteers polished 75 benches and assembled new desks, creating a more comfortable and inspiring space for over 380 students to learn and grow.

This initiative went beyond physical upgrades; it encouraged students to take ownership of their surroundings, fostering a sense of pride in their educational environment. By involving students directly in the repair and maintenance of classroom furniture, TKM provided a unique learning experience that emphasized collaboration, responsibility, and the value of community service. After the hands-on work, a reflective session allowed volunteers and students to share their experiences, highlighting the power of education in personal and communal development.

“Our commitment to society transcends business,” remarked Sudeep S Dalvi, Senior Vice President & Chief Communication Officer of TKM. “The 31st iCare event exemplifies our dedication to creating impactful change. By engaging students and our employees together, we are not only improving infrastructure but cultivating a community of responsibility and pride.”

Since 2017, TKM’s iCare program has mobilized over 2,659 volunteers across 30 events, positively impacting the lives of 67,000 community members. The program spans various initiatives, including education, environmental conservation, road safety, and skill development, all of which reflect Toyota’s unwavering dedication to social responsibility. Looking ahead, TKM plans to continue empowering employees and communities through these transformative efforts, ensuring lasting, positive change for future generations.
