Nagpur Accelerates Green Public Transport: EKA Mobility to Supply 250 Electric Buses

In a significant stride toward eco-friendly urban transport, EKA Mobility, a division of Pinnacle Mobility Solutions Pvt. Ltd., has secured a major order from Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) to provide 250 electric buses. This initiative marks a crucial step in NMC’s mission to modernize public transportation while reducing emissions and operational costs, delivering a more sustainable and efficient system for the city’s commuters.

The 250 e-buses will be manufactured by EKA Mobility in partnership with Hansa Vahan India Private Limited (formerly M/s Hansa Travels), the company awarded the contract by NMC. These 12-meter, air-conditioned buses, designed for comfort and efficiency, will accommodate up to 41 seated passengers and 24 standing, serving key routes across Nagpur. Additionally, EKA Mobility will manage the maintenance of the fleet throughout its operational life.

Rohit Srivastava, Chief Growth Officer of EKA Mobility, expressed excitement about the partnership: “Nagpur’s push toward sustainability through clean energy mobility is commendable, and we are proud to contribute to this transformation. This collaboration underscores our commitment to leading India’s electric vehicle revolution by providing cost-effective, green mobility solutions to cities nationwide.”

EKA Mobility, with equity partners Mitsui Co. Ltd. (Japan) and VDL Groep (Netherlands), has already made its mark in the electric vehicle sector with deployments at major locations such as Delhi and Pune International Airport. The company has also partnered with global furniture giant IKEA to deliver electric vans in India.

EKA’s e-buses, featuring innovative technology and lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) compared to diesel counterparts, are designed to address urban challenges like pollution and congestion. As more cities embrace electric mobility, Nagpur’s fleet expansion highlights its commitment to a cleaner, greener future for public transportation.
