Maruti Suzuki Mobilizes Relief Efforts with ₹3 Crore Donation to PM Cares Fund Amidst Nationwide Flood Crisis

New Delhi, September 3, 2024 — As India battles widespread destruction due to relentless monsoon rains, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has stepped up to aid the recovery. The automobile giant has donated ₹3 crore to the PM Cares Fund as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative to support flood relief operations across the country.

The severe floods have wreaked havoc, claiming lives and displacing communities across various states. Maruti Suzuki’s donation is aimed at assisting the government in its ongoing efforts to provide relief, rebuild affected areas, and restore normalcy.

“We stand united with the families impacted by these tragic natural disasters,” said Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Limited. “It is our collective duty to come together during such crises. Our contribution is a small step in helping the government’s relief and rehabilitation initiatives for those affected.”

Proactive Support for Car Owners in Flood-Hit Regions

In addition to the financial aid, Maruti Suzuki has launched several customer-focused initiatives to mitigate vehicle damage and assist car owners in flood-affected areas. Leveraging an integrated pre-emptive alert system, MSIL sent out 170 lakh advanced warnings from July 2023 to August 2024, enabling customers to take precautionary measures based on government weather forecasts.

Beyond alerts, Maruti’s after-sales service teams have been working tirelessly to provide 24×7 assistance. Collaborating with towing services and insurance companies, MSIL has streamlined the process of claim settlements and vehicle recovery.

To cope with the increased demand, workshops in flood-hit areas extended their operating hours, and additional repair teams were deployed from nearby regions. Service managers were assigned to specific areas, providing customers with direct access to support through shared contact information.

Maruti Suzuki’s multi-faceted approach reflects its commitment to both national relief efforts and the well-being of its customers during these challenging times.
