Porsche Celebrates 50 Years of Turbo Legacy with Limited-Edition 911 Model

Stuttgart, Germany—August 16, 2024: In a grand nod to five decades of automotive excellence, Porsche has unveiled the 911 Turbo 50 Years, an exclusive anniversary model that pays homage to the iconic sports car that first roared to life in 1974. This limited-edition vehicle marries high-performance engineering with a nostalgic design that recalls the storied past of the 911 Turbo, all while embracing modern aesthetics and technology.

The 911 Turbo 50 Years is not just a tribute; it’s a masterpiece in its own right, blending the best of Porsche’s historic and contemporary design elements. The vehicle, based on the latest 911 Turbo S platform, is limited to just 1,974 units, a symbolic number marking the year the original 911 Turbo revolutionized the sports car market.

Design: A Blend of History and Modernity

From the moment you lay eyes on it, the 911 Turbo 50 Years stands out. Its exterior is a mix of historical references and modern touches, with Turbonite—a color exclusive to this model—making its debut. This unique hue graces various elements of the car, including the rear engine cover, fuel tank cap, and Porsche crest, offering a visual connection to the Turbo’s rich legacy.

The car also features a host of other design cues from past Porsche models. The standard side vinyl graphics are a direct homage to the Porsche 911 RSR Turbo’s livery, a predecessor that made waves at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1973. Anthracite Grey accents on the rear wing blade, rear apron, and mirror bases further enhance the retro aesthetic, while a special badge and LED door projector commemorate the Turbo’s 50-year journey.

Interior: A Nod to the 1970s

Step inside, and you’re transported back to the 1970s. The interior is adorned with McKenzie tartan on the seat centers and door panels, a signature of early 911 Turbo models. Turbonite accents continue here, adding contrast to the leather upholstery and highlighting the car’s bespoke nature. The dashboard is crowned with an analogue Porsche Design Subsecond clock, specially crafted to match the vehicle’s commemorative theme.

Heritage Design Package: Even More Exclusivity

For those who crave even more nostalgia, the optional Heritage Design Package elevates the anniversary model to new heights. This package includes Aventurine Green Metallic paint and a decorative graphic inspired by the racing stripes of the 1970s. Inside, additional leather elements and tartan patterns further immerse occupants in the 911 Turbo’s storied history.

Performance: A True Turbo

Under the hood, the 911 Turbo 50 Years doesn’t just rest on its laurels. It’s powered by a 3.7-liter twin-turbo boxer engine, delivering an impressive 478 kW (650 PS) and 800 Nm of torque. This power propels the car from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds, with a top speed of 330 km/h. The vehicle’s advanced all-wheel-drive system and 8-speed dual-clutch transmission ensure that this Turbo is as thrilling to drive as it is to admire.

Exclusive Timepiece: A Watch for the Ages

In true Porsche fashion, the celebration extends beyond the car itself. Porsche Design Timepieces is releasing a limited-edition 911 Turbo 50 Years chronograph, available only to owners of the anniversary model. This watch, like the car, is limited to 1,974 units and features design elements that echo the vehicle’s unique aesthetic.

Available Soon: A Piece of History

For those eager to own a piece of automotive history, the 911 Turbo 50 Years will be available for delivery starting in autumn 2024. Until then, enthusiasts can catch a glimpse of this extraordinary vehicle at the ongoing “Beyond Performance – 50 Years of Porsche Turbo” exhibition at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen. This limited-edition model is more than just a car—it’s a celebration of Porsche’s enduring legacy and a testament to the 911 Turbo’s lasting impact on the world of sports cars.
