Suzuki, NDDB, and Banas Dairy Partner to Revolutionize Rural Mobility and Sustainability
In a significant step towards carbon neutrality, Suzuki Motor Corporation has inked a three-party Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and Banas Dairy to establish a fifth biogas production plant in Banaskantha district, Gujarat. This initiative not only aims to bolster sustainable energy production but also to enhance rural mobility through biogas-fueled vehicles.
The signing ceremony, held at Banas Dairy Sanadar Plant, was attended by key figures including Shankar Chaudhary, Chairman of Banas Dairy, S Rajeev, Executive Director of NDDB, and Suzuki’s President Toshihiro Suzuki. The event saw an impressive turnout of approximately 2,500 local dairy farmers, underscoring the community’s support and involvement.
The newly agreed plant will join four existing biogas facilities in the district, collectively advancing the region’s sustainable energy infrastructure. This project highlights a concerted effort to leverage biogas as a clean, renewable energy source, derived from dairy farm waste, to power Maruti Suzuki’s CNG vehicles, providing an eco-friendly transportation alternative for rural residents.
President Toshihiro Suzuki expressed his enthusiasm for the venture, stating, “Our collaboration with Banas Dairy and NDDB marks the beginning of a transformative journey. By combining our expertise, we aim to innovate rural lifestyles and contribute to the district’s development.”
The partnership between Suzuki, NDDB, and Banas Dairy represents a forward-thinking approach to environmental stewardship and rural development. Through these initiatives, the three entities strive to make substantial strides toward carbon neutrality and enhance the quality of life in rural India.
