Hyundai Motor India Foundation Launches Mobile Healthcare Units in Maharashtra

Nagpur / Aurangabad | July 17, 2024 – In a significant step towards improving healthcare accessibility in rural India, Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF), the CSR division of Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), has launched its Sparsh Sanjeevani Mobile Chikitsa Units in the Nagpur and Aurangabad districts of Maharashtra. The launch event was graced by Shri Girish Mahajan, Minister of Rural Development, Youth Affairs, and Sports for the Government of Maharashtra.

The initiative is part of Hyundai’s commitment to its global vision of ‘Progress for Humanity’. By deploying these mobile healthcare units, Hyundai aims to bridge the healthcare gap in underserved rural areas, offering essential medical services right at the doorstep of those in need.

Inauguration and Objective

During the inauguration, Mr. Puneet Anand, AVP & Vertical Head – Corporate Affairs at HMIL, emphasized the importance of a healthy population for holistic development. “A healthy population is the first requisite for holistic development. In-line with Hyundai’s global vision of ‘Progress for Humanity’, HMIF’s Sparsh Sanjeevani Mobile Chikitsa Units aim to positively impact remote and underserved areas of Nagpur and Aurangabad districts. Specialized Hyundai Mighty vans converted into Mobile Chikitsa units are equipped with state-of-the-art amenities and will move around rural areas of these districts, offering proactive diagnostics and free medical consultations directly to those in need,” said Mr. Anand.

Details of Sparsh Sanjeevani Mobile Chikitsa Units

The Sparsh Sanjeevani initiative focuses on providing primary medical care in remote rural regions where healthcare facilities are scarce. The mobile units, modified from Hyundai Mighty vans, are outfitted with advanced medical equipment to conduct various diagnostic tests. These include blood sugar tests, blood pressure monitoring, and screenings for diseases such as malaria and dengue.

Each mobile unit is staffed by a qualified MBBS doctor, ensuring that villagers receive professional medical consultations and essential medicines at no cost. The state-of-the-art diagnostic tools on board facilitate accurate and timely medical diagnoses, which is critical for early detection and treatment of health issues.

Impact and Vision

By bringing these healthcare services to the doorstep of rural communities, Hyundai Motor India Foundation hopes to make a substantial impact on the overall health and well-being of these populations. The mobile units are expected to traverse the rural landscapes of Nagpur and Aurangabad, reaching the most remote villages and providing much-needed medical attention to those who have limited or no access to healthcare facilities.

This initiative not only underscores Hyundai’s commitment to social responsibility but also aligns with broader efforts to enhance rural healthcare infrastructure in India. The Sparsh Sanjeevani Mobile Chikitsa Units represent a significant advancement in the journey towards achieving health equity, ensuring that no one is left behind when it comes to receiving essential medical care.

Through these efforts, Hyundai Motor India Foundation is making a meaningful contribution to the lives of thousands of rural residents, fostering a healthier and more resilient community.
