Mumbai, India – The world watched in awe as Anant Ambani, the youngest scion of India’s wealthiest family, embarked on his baraat today. Anant, the son of industrialist Mukesh Ambani and philanthropist Nita Ambani, chose the opulent orange Rolls-Royce Cullinan Black Badge from his extensive collection of over 200 cars for the occasion. The luxurious SUV, adorned with vibrant floral decorations, led the procession from the Ambani residence, Antilia, to the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC).
Following closely behind in a decorated pink Rolls-Royce Phantom was Nita Ambani, while another orange Cullinan trailed the mother and groom, adding to the spectacle of extravagance and tradition.
The wedding procession was a showcase of luxury and elegance. Mukesh Ambani departed first in a Mercedes-Benz S 680 Guard, also lavishly decorated, setting the tone for the grand event. Anant’s brother, Akash Ambani, made a striking appearance in his new red Ferrari Purosangue, further highlighting the family’s penchant for high-end automobiles.
The baraat featured an impressive lineup of cars, including a green Bentley Bentayga, a Mercedes-Benz V-Class, and a Range Rover Autobiography. Ensuring the safety and smooth passage of the procession, security was provided by a fleet of powerful vehicles, including the Mercedes-AMG G 63, Range Rover, Land Rover Discovery, MG Gloster, Mahindra XUV700, and Toyota Fortuner.
The scale of the wedding is unmatched, with over 100 private jets arriving from around the globe, bringing guests to what is considered one of the most expensive wedding events ever, with a budget surpassing INR 2600 crores.
Anant Ambani, a graduate of Brown University and a director on the boards of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) and Reliance Foundation, is known for his philanthropic efforts, particularly his passion project, Vantara, a rehabilitation centre for animals in Jamnagar, Gujarat.
He is marrying Radhika Merchant, daughter of Shaila and Viren Merchant, CEO of Encore Healthcare. Radhika, a New York University graduate and trained classical dancer, is also a board member of Encore Healthcare.
The wedding festivities, starting with the ‘Shubh Vivah’ today, will continue with the ‘Shubh Aashirwad’ on July 13, and the grand wedding reception or ‘Mangal Utsav’ on July 14. The guest list reads like a who’s who of global and Indian elites, including political leaders such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. Several Chief Ministers, including Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh and Mamata Banerjee of West Bengal, are also expected to attend.
The star-studded event will see Bollywood’s top celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, and international figures such as Kim and Khloe Kardashian, John Cena, and singer Luis Rodriguez. Dignitaries from around the world, including former UK PMs Tony Blair and Boris Johnson, ex-Italian PM Matteo Renzi, and IOC vice president Juan Antonio Samaranch, are among the high-profile attendees.
