ZF New Trailer Telematics Solution Drives Efficiency and Cost Savings

Friedrichshafen, Germany – ZF’s Commercial Vehicles Solutions (CVS) division has unveiled a cutting-edge trailer telematics solution, poised to revolutionize the trailer industry by enhancing efficiency and reducing costs. This innovative solution integrates ZF’s advanced braking and tire pressure monitoring systems with the Scalar cloud platform’s telematics capabilities.

The new solution streamlines digitalization for trailer operations by offering an all-in-one package. This includes ZF’s OptiTire Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Trailer Electronic Braking Systems (TEBS and the next-generation iEBS), and the Operating Data Recorder (ODR). These components are seamlessly connected to ZF’s Scalar cloud platform through the Scalar Evo Pulse connectivity device.

Designed to meet GDPR (EU) and UN ECE regulation R141 standards, ZF’s telematics solution delivers real-time, data-rich operational insights, boosting trailer performance and reliability. This benefits trailer manufacturers, rental companies, and fleet operators by enhancing production processes, customer service, and trailer designs while achieving significant cost savings. Fleet managers, in particular, can optimize fuel efficiency and driver performance.

“Leveraging ZF’s nearly five decades of trailer technology expertise, we continuously innovate with smart components, digital solutions, and services that support trailer builders, fleet operators, and leasing companies,” said Christiaan Verschueren, Vice President Trailer Solutions at ZF. “Access to technical data on trailer performance allows manufacturers to enhance designs, resulting in more robust and reliable trailers for their customers.”

Hjalmar Van Raemdonck, Head of Digital Solutions at ZF, added: “This package harnesses ZF’s advanced trailer components and digital capabilities to offer significant advantages for both trailer OEMs and fleet operators. By interconnecting system components via our Scalar cloud platform, we enhance efficiency and reduce costs.”

Parcisa, a Spanish manufacturer of stainless steel and aluminum road tankers, has integrated ZF’s trailer telematics solution into its tankers under the name ‘Parcisa Connect’. Constancio Villodre, CEO of Parcisa, commented: “The new connected trailer solution enables customers to remotely manage their entire fleet. It provides a comprehensive suite of data and tools for planning, routing, service time management, driver communication, eco-driving, and precise diagnostics.”

This groundbreaking solution from ZF marks a significant step forward in the digital transformation of the trailer industry, promising improved efficiency and substantial cost reductions across the trailer ecosystem.
