Redefining Adventure: The Defender OCTA Dominates with 635 PS Performance and Luxury

Gaydon, UK – Wednesday 3 July 2024: The new Defender OCTA is a testament to the British adventure brand’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of capability and performance. The OCTA model, the most powerful and extreme Defender to date, is powered by a 4.4-litre Twin Turbo mild-hybrid V8 engine, producing 635PS and 750Nm of torque. This powerhouse enables the OCTA to accelerate from 0-60mph in just 3.8 seconds.

Innovative Technologies:
The Defender OCTA’s dynamic capabilities are further enhanced by heavily revised chassis components and innovative technologies, including 6D Dynamics suspension. This suspension technology ensures superior performance on a wide range of surfaces and conditions. The exterior design is bolder and tougher than ever, with a raised ride height, widened stance, and extended wheel arches for an incredible presence. Redesigned bumpers improve approach and departure angles, while tough underbody protection enables exploration over rough terrain and through up to one meter of water.

Mark Cameron, Managing Director, Defender:
“With the new Defender OCTA, we have unlocked the full potential of Defender. It is the very definition of breadth of capability and a testament to what we can achieve utilizing the best technologies and talents within our engineering division. With its powerful V8 engine, groundbreaking 6D Dynamics suspension technology, exquisite finishes, and unique detailing, it is rare, incredibly tough, and inherently desirable.”

Defender OCTA’s Diamond-Inspired Name:
The name ‘OCTA’ is derived from the octahedral shape of diamonds, symbolizing the model’s strength and durability. Every Defender OCTA features a new encircled diamond graphic, including a gloss black diamond within a machined and sandblasted titanium disc on each Signature Graphic panel.

Exclusive Defender OCTA Edition One:
Available in the first year of production, the Defender OCTA Edition One features a curated specification, exclusive new Faroe Green paint color, Khaki and Ebony Ultrafabrics™ PU, seamless Knit interior, Chopped Carbon Fibre detailing, and 20-inch forged alloy wheels with a choice of all-terrain or specially developed Advanced All-Terrain Tyres.

Unparalleled Performance:
The new Defender OCTA’s 635PS 4.4-litre Twin Turbo mild-hybrid V8 engine, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission with high and low range gears, delivers unprecedented performance. It can reach up to 155mph when fitted with 22-inch lightweight alloy wheels and all-season tyres. With peak torque available from just 1,800rpm through to almost 6,000rpm, the OCTA provides exceptional drivability.

Advanced Suspension and Braking:
The Defender OCTA features hydraulically-interlinked 6D Dynamics suspension technology, extensive hardware and geometry changes, and longer, tougher wishbones. Unique active dampers with separate accumulators and uprated 400mm front brake discs with Brembo calipers ensure maximum wheel articulation off-road and reduced roll on-road.

Rigorous Testing:
A bespoke testing and development program, with over 13,960 additional tests, ensured the Defender OCTA’s durability and capability. Jamal Hameedi, Director of SVO, JLR, praised the high-performance experts for creating the most capable Defender ever made, suitable for any surface.

6D Dynamics System:
The advanced 6D Dynamics system virtually eliminates pitch and body roll on-road, contributing to unprecedented comfort and refinement. On rough terrain, it enables greater wheel articulation, allowing for even more extreme obstacle tackling.

Enhanced Drive Modes:
The Defender OCTA features enhanced drive modes, including Comfort Mode, Dynamic Mode, and the all-new OCTA Mode for ultimate off-road performance. The suite of familiar Terrain Response modes remains available, with specific calibrations for various off-road conditions.

Confident Exterior:
Defender OCTA’s imposing presence is enhanced by 33-inch diameter tyres, extended wheel arches, unique grille designs, a new rear bumper, tough underbody protection, and exclusive new premium metallic finishes. The color palette includes Petra Copper, Faroe Green, Carpathian Grey, and Charente Grey, with a contrast roof and tailgate in gloss Narvik Black.

Engaging Interior:
The interior of the Defender OCTA features curated selections of durable Ultrafabrics™ PU and semi-aniline leather options. The new Performance Seats with integrated headrests and Body and Soul Seat audio technology offer an immersive driving experience.

Order Information:
The new Defender OCTA will be available soon, with indicative prices starting from £145,300 (OTR) in the UK. The Defender OCTA Edition One, available through the first year of production, will start from £160,800/INR 1.70 crore (OTR) in the UK. The new high-performance, all-terrain hero will make its public and dynamic debut at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed from July 11-14.
