Nissan Appoints Dr. Lavanya Wadgaonkar as Corporate Vice President and Chief Communications Officer

Yokohama, Japan – In a significant move reflecting its commitment to enhancing global communications and diversity, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. has announced the promotion of Dr. Lavanya Wadgaonkar to the position of Corporate Vice President and Chief Communications Officer, effective April 1, 2024. Dr. Wadgaonkar, who previously served as Vice President of Nissan Global Communications, will now helm the company’s communications strategies both in Japan and internationally.

The appointment comes at a pivotal time as Nissan introduces The Arc, a comprehensive business strategy aimed at augmenting value and fortifying its competitive edge in the global market. Dr. Wadgaonkar’s leadership in communications will play a crucial role in building trust and enhancing the company’s reputation during this transformative phase.

In her elevated role, Dr. Wadgaonkar will also continue to spearhead Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, fostering an environment that values diversity and inclusivity across Nissan’s global operations. She will report directly to Makoto Uchida, Nissan’s President and Chief Executive Officer.

Boasting an impressive career spanning over 28 years, Dr. Wadgaonkar has garnered extensive international experience in strategic communications, public affairs, brand management, marketing, and sustainability. Before her tenure at Nissan, she held key positions at Lexmark, Reliance, and Eaton, where she significantly contributed to their communications and marketing strategies.

Dr. Wadgaonkar’s educational background is equally distinguished, with a PhD, an MPhil, and a Master’s degree from Osmania University, Hyderabad, India. Her global expertise and comprehensive understanding of the communications landscape are anticipated to drive Nissan’s communications efforts to new heights, aligning with the company’s ambitious goals and values.
