At the “A New Journey” themed NIO Day 2023 held in Xi’an, the electric vehicle innovator NIO introduced its smart electric executive flagship, the NIO ET9. This event, a hallmark of NIO’s calendar, saw over 2,000 users actively participate in its organization, attracting a crowd of more than 10,000 at the Xi’an Olympic Sports Center Stadium.
The ET9, representing the zenith of smart electric vehicle (EV) technology, embodies NIO’s commitment to innovation. It combines a luxurious exterior with a spacious interior, offering an immersive driving experience, efficient recharging capabilities, and advanced smart technologies. Tailored for the new generation of high-end business users, the ET9 sets a new standard in comfort and safety in the executive vehicle segment.
Measuring 5,325mm in length, 2,016mm in width, 1,620mm in height, and with a 3,250mm wheelbase, the ET9’s imposing dimensions are complemented by its Landjet design. This design enhances cabin space, comfort, safety, and steering. The vehicle features a unique four-seat layout with first-class comforts like the “Sky Island” and “Executive Bridge,” offering a 360-degree adjustable tray table and first-class rear seats with 24 patented technologies.
Technologically, the ET9 leads the industry, integrating over 100 NIO full-stack technologies, including 17 world-first and 52 leading technologies. It boasts 525 patents, setting a new benchmark for electric vehicles. The ET9’s SkyRide Intelligent Chassis System, a world-first, ensures unparalleled handling and comfort even on challenging terrains, thanks to its unique hardware integration.
The ET9 stands out with China’s first Full-Domain 900V Architecture, enabling ultra-fast charging capabilities. It can significantly extend its range with just a 5-minute charge, thanks to its peak charging power of 600kW and current of 765A.
NIO’s super computing platform Adam 2.0 powers the ET9’s intelligent systems, covering six major areas, and features the first 5nm automotive-grade chip for autonomous driving, the NX9031. This chip facilitates a seamless blend of computing power and proprietary algorithms, ensuring top-tier safety and efficiency. The SkyOS operating system is the technological heart of the ET9, ensuring smooth vehicle control and connectivity.
Safety is paramount in the ET9, which adheres to aviation-grade standards. It features advanced sensing units and computing capabilities, setting global safety benchmarks for executive flagships. The ET9 is available for pre-order in China, with deliveries expected in the first quarter of 2025.
In addition to the ET9, NIO Day 2023 saw the launch of the fourth-generation NIO Power Swap Stations (PSS 4.0) and the 640kW Liquid Cooled Power Charger, enhancing the EV charging experience. The PSS 4.0 reduces swap times and is energy-efficient with its rooftop photovoltaic systems. NIO plans to expand its charging network significantly in 2024.
The event also featured a user marketplace, with proceeds going to charity, reflecting NIO’s commitment to social responsibility. NIO’s CEO, William Li, emphasized the company’s dedication to innovation, quality, and leadership in the premium smart EV market, underscoring the ET9 as a symbol of NIO’s ambition and technological prowess.
