Ferrari Turns Up the Heat: Purosangue ‘Handling Speciale’ Brings Track-Bred Sharpness to Its V12 Family Machine

In a move that proves practicality and performance can indeed share the same Italian espresso, Ferrari Purosangue has received a sharper, more athletic alter ego with the debut of its new “Handling Speciale” configuration. Unveiled by Ferrari in Maranello on April 29, 2026, this optional setup is aimed at those who feel their four-door Ferrari could use just a little more drama in the corners.

The Purosangue, already known as Ferrari’s first-ever four-door, four-seater offering, hasn’t exactly been accused of being dull. But the Handling Speciale configuration pushes things further by fine-tuning both mechanical and electronic systems to deliver a more intense driving experience—without turning school runs into endurance races.

At the heart of the upgrade lies a recalibrated active suspension system, engineered to reduce body roll by 10 percent. The result is a car that feels tighter, more planted, and significantly more responsive when thrown into a series of bends. In simpler terms, it’s like the Purosangue went to the gym, lost some weight, and came back with sharper reflexes.

Ferrari has also worked its magic on the transmission. Gear shifts are now quicker and more decisive, particularly in the more aggressive Manettino modes like ‘Race’ and ‘ESC-Off’. Drivers who prefer taking control themselves will notice more engaging shifts at higher revs—especially beyond 5,500 rpm—where the naturally aspirated V12 truly begins to sing. And yes, Ferrari made sure you hear it better too, thanks to a more pronounced cabin sound profile during startup and acceleration. Subtle? Not quite. Satisfying? Absolutely.

Visually, the Handling Speciale configuration adds just enough flair to signal that this isn’t your average Purosangue. Unique wheels with a diamond-cut finish, carbon fibre side shields, matte black exhaust tips, and a blacked-out Prancing Horse emblem give it a stealthy yet premium presence. Inside, a dedicated plaque quietly reminds you—and your passengers—that this Ferrari means business, even if it has four doors.

Underneath all the enhancements, the Purosangue retains its sophisticated transaxle architecture, with a front-mid-mounted V12 and rear-mounted gearbox, delivering the kind of balance Ferrari enthusiasts expect. Importantly, the practicality remains untouched. You still get full four-seat comfort, an elevated driving position, and everyday usability—because even Ferrari knows not every journey is a lap time challenge.

Complementing the performance upgrades is Ferrari’s comprehensive seven-year Genuine Maintenance programme, ensuring that owners can enjoy their high-performance family machine with peace of mind. Regular servicing, original parts, and factory-trained technicians mean the Purosangue stays in peak condition—whether it’s carving mountain roads or, occasionally, tackling traffic.

With the Handling Speciale configuration, Ferrari has essentially taken its most versatile model and made it even more thrilling. Because if you’re driving a V12-powered, four-door Ferrari, blending in was never really the plan anyway.
