MG Cars Get Slightly Pricier from April 2026 — Inflation Takes the Driver’s Seat (Again!)

Gurugram: In what has become a familiar ritual in the automotive world, JSW MG Motor India has announced a price hike of up to 2% across its model lineup, effective April 1, 2026. Yes, the cars didn’t change overnight—but the prices did.

The company stated that the revision is aimed at partially offsetting the persistent rise in input costs, something every automaker seems to be battling lately. From raw materials to logistics, the cost pressures have quietly been building up—and now, they’ve finally made their way to the price tag.

Importantly, the increase applies to the standard MG portfolio, while models under the MG Select range remain unaffected—for now.

A Familiar Industry Trend

Price hikes across the industry have almost become as predictable as traffic on a Monday morning. MG’s move aligns with a broader trend where automakers are recalibrating prices to maintain margins amid fluctuating global economic conditions.

Customers planning to bring home an MG vehicle might want to act fast—or at least check with their nearest dealership—because even a “small” 2% hike can feel a lot bigger when you’re signing the cheque.

MG’s Growing Footprint in India

Backed by a joint venture between SAIC Motor and the JSW Group, JSW MG Motor India has been steadily expanding its presence in the Indian market since its formation in 2023.

The brand, rooted in the legacy of Morris Garages (founded in 1924), has successfully transitioned from classic British roadsters to futuristic, tech-laden vehicles. Its portfolio in India includes popular models like the internet-savvy MG Hector, the electric-forward MG ZS EV, and the compact urban disruptor MG Comet.

MG has also pushed boundaries with innovations such as AI-powered assistants, connected car technology, and early adoption of electric mobility—making it one of the more tech-forward brands in the country.

The Road Ahead

With its manufacturing facility in Halol, Gujarat, and a strong focus on CASE (Connected, Autonomous, Shared, Electric) mobility, MG continues to position itself as a future-ready brand in India’s evolving automotive landscape.

However, as costs rise, so do prices—and while a 2% hike may not sound dramatic, it’s enough to remind buyers that timing can make a difference.

So, if you’ve been eyeing that shiny new MG, this might be your cue: act before your dream car gets slightly more expensive—or prepare to pay a little extra for the same smile per kilometre.
