Toyota India to Add Classrooms, Digital Facilities at Nagavalli School

Tumakuru: Toyota Kirloskar Motor has begun an educational infrastructure development project at Karnataka Public School in Nagavalli, Tumakuru Rural Taluk, with plans to construct additional classrooms and introduce digital and practical learning facilities.

The company held a groundbreaking ceremony for the project on Monday in the presence of V. Somanna, Union Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti; Suresh Gowda, Member of the Legislative Assembly from Tumakuru; and A. Ramesh Rao, Vice President at Toyota Kirloskar Motor, along with senior company representatives.

Karnataka Public School, Nagavalli, serves more than 1,200 students each year from 20 surrounding villages. It provides education from lower kindergarten to second-year pre-university level in both Kannada and English.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor said the expansion had become necessary as enrolment increased and the school sought to provide students with a safer, more comfortable and engaging learning environment.

Under the project, the company will build additional classrooms equipped with furniture and provide digital learning facilities and resources for practical education. The development is intended to support a child-centred and community-oriented approach to elementary education.

For a school accommodating pupils across such a wide age range, the expansion will involve more than simply finding room for a few extra desks.

“A nation’s progress is shaped in its classrooms. When we invest in schools, we invest in the future of children, communities and our country. Strengthening educational infrastructure, especially in rural areas, is critical to improving access, encouraging higher enrolment and enabling better academic outcomes. I commend Toyota Kirloskar Motor for partnering in this initiative and contributing towards our shared vision of making quality education accessible to every child,” Somanna said.

Vikram Gulati, Country Head and Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said the project was aimed at creating learning spaces that encouraged confidence, curiosity and ambition among students.

“At Toyota Kirloskar Motor, we believe that the true measure of progress lies in the opportunities we create for people. Education is one of the most powerful enablers of that progress, and every child deserves access to a learning environment that inspires confidence, curiosity and ambition. This initiative is not simply about building classrooms; it is about creating spaces where young minds can learn, grow and prepare for the future. We remain committed to working alongside governments and local communities to build stronger educational ecosystems and contribute to sustainable social development,” Gulati said.

Once completed, the project is expected to provide sufficient infrastructure to accommodate the school’s entire student population.

According to the company, the improved facilities could help increase enrolment by nearly 25%. The initiative also carries a target of helping the school achieve a 95% pass rate in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate and pre-university examinations.

These figures are projected outcomes and will depend on factors including project completion, student participation, teaching resources and the school’s academic performance.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor said its education-related programmes have so far benefited more than 25,000 students.

The Nagavalli project reflects the growing role of partnerships between businesses, governments and local communities in addressing infrastructure gaps in rural education. New buildings alone cannot guarantee better results, but adequate classrooms, accessible technology and practical learning resources can give teachers and students a considerably stronger place to begin.
