Kia Seltos Petrol-Automatic Retains 79% Value, Highest In Mid-SUV Segment

New Delhi: Kia India’s Seltos has topped the mid-SUV segment in resale value, with the petrol-automatic variant retaining 79% of its value after one year, according to the latest Autocar India Used Car Study conducted in association with Spinny.

The findings place the Kia Seltos ahead of its segment rivals in residual value performance, a metric that matters almost as much to Indian car buyers as mileage, waiting periods and whether the neighbour approves.

According to the Autocar India Used Car Study, 4th Edition, the Seltos Petrol-Automatic retained 79% of its value after one year, 67% after three years and 57% after five years of ownership. Across the Seltos range, the SUV retained an average of 66% of its value after three years and 55% after five years, the highest in the mid-SUV segment based on the study data.

Kia India said the results reinforce the Seltos’ ownership proposition, sustained demand and long-term value retention in the Indian market.

Commenting on the recognition, Mr. Atul Sood, Senior Vice-President, Marketing & Sales, Kia India, said, “Highest resale value is among the clearest indicators of customer trust, product desirability and long-term ownership confidence. The findings reaffirm the enduring appeal of the Kia Seltos and reflect the confidence customers continue to place in its quality, performance, technology and overall ownership experience. At Kia, we remain committed to delivering products that create value for customers throughout their ownership journey.”

Launched as Kia’s first product in India, the Seltos has played a central role in establishing the brand’s presence in the country’s competitive SUV market. Kia India said the model has sold more than 6.5 lakh units in India to date.

The company attributes the Seltos’ continued demand to its design, technology features, safety equipment and performance options. Regular product updates have also helped the SUV remain relevant in a segment where buyers often compare everything from touchscreen size to tyre profile with remarkable seriousness.

Strong residual value is considered an important factor in vehicle ownership because it can reduce depreciation-related losses, improve exchange value and make future upgrades easier. For buyers, it can also lower the effective cost of ownership over the vehicle’s life cycle.

The study was conducted by Autocar India in association with Spinny, a pre-owned car platform, and analysed real-world resale values across the Indian market.

For Kia India, the findings strengthen the Seltos’ position as one of its most important models in the country. For customers, the study underlines a familiar but significant point: in India’s SUV market, value does not end at the showroom gate.
