Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna Unveils New 849 Testarossa at First National Premiere in India

Mumbai: India’s luxury car scene just got a little louder—and significantly faster. Italian supercar maker Ferrari has hosted its first-ever national premiere in India, unveiling the stunning 849 Testarossa at Mumbai’s Jio World Convention Centre, priced at an eye-watering ₹10.37 crore.

And yes, if your heart skipped a beat reading “Testarossa,” you’re not alone.

The unveiling was led by Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna along with Chief Marketing & Commercial Officer Enrico Galliera, marking a rare moment when the top brass from Maranello personally introduced a model on Indian soil. For a country where spotting a Ferrari still causes traffic jams (and phone cameras to appear instantly), the moment felt rather special.

A Premiere in Two Acts – Media by Day, Ferrari Family by Night

The national reveal unfolded in two exclusive chapters.

During the day, journalists were given an up-close look at the engineering, design philosophy and performance credentials of Ferrari’s newest flagship hybrid supercar.

In the evening, things became even more glamorous. Over 500 invited guests and Ferrari clients gathered for an exclusive gala dinner where the 849 Testarossa was revealed to India’s growing Ferrari community. In typical Ferrari fashion, the car wasn’t just unveiled—it made an entrance.

Ferrari Bets Big on India

Speaking at the event, CEO Benedetto Vigna emphasized that India is increasingly important in Ferrari’s global strategy.

“India is a country that offers a lot of opportunities. It is a young country with a strong entrepreneurial spirit, and that energy resonates deeply with Ferrari’s philosophy of innovation and passion,” he said.

Ferrari’s presence in India currently includes dealerships in Mumbai and New Delhi, along with a service point in Bengaluru, ensuring that owners across the country can experience the full Ferrari ownership ecosystem—because buying a Ferrari is one thing, maintaining it is another level of commitment.

Interestingly, Ferrari notes that Indian Ferrari owners are among the youngest globally, reflecting the country’s rapidly growing base of entrepreneurs and luxury enthusiasts who prefer horsepower along with their success stories.

Meet the 849 Testarossa: Ferrari’s Hybrid Flagship

The Ferrari 849 Testarossa sits at the very top of the brand’s lineup, replacing the SF90 Stradale as Ferrari’s ultimate hybrid performance machine.

Underneath its dramatic bodywork lies a re-engineered mid-rear twin-turbo V8 paired with three electric motors, delivering a combined 1050 cv of power. In simple terms, that’s enough performance to make most sports cars feel like they’re stuck in Mumbai traffic.

Ferrari has equipped the car with a host of motorsport-derived technologies, including:

  • Advanced aerodynamic architecture with a distinctive twin-tail rear design
  • Active rear spoiler for improved high-speed stability
  • ABS Evo braking system
  • Ferrari’s FIVE vehicle dynamics estimator, managing performance in real time

Despite the extreme performance, Ferrari says the 849 Testarossa is designed to balance speed, usability and interior refinement, proving that even supercars can occasionally behave themselves—at least until the throttle is pressed.

The Return of an Iconic Name

Perhaps the most emotional aspect of the launch is the revival of the Testarossa name, one of Ferrari’s most legendary badges.

The new 849 Testarossa blends futuristic design with strong heritage cues, creating what Ferrari describes as a modern expression of its most powerful hybrid berlinettas.

Ferrari and India: A Relationship Accelerating

Ferrari’s relationship with India has steadily evolved over the years, and the national premiere signals a deeper commitment to the market.

With the country’s wealth creation accelerating and a new generation of young enthusiasts entering the luxury car space, Ferrari clearly sees India not just as a market—but as a future playground for the Prancing Horse.

And if the excitement at Mumbai’s unveiling was anything to go by, the 849 Testarossa might soon become the car that makes India’s supercar spotters wake up earlier—and stay out longer.

Because when a ₹10.37-crore Ferrari roars down the road, even traffic seems willing to make way.
