New Delhi: Automotive surface protection brand RODIM has rolled out its latest innovation — the R-Star Advanced Paint Protection Film (PPF) — at Automechanika 2026, targeting India’s fast-growing mass-premium car segment and drivers who believe their car’s shine deserves its own insurance policy.
Launched under the dramatic theme “A Star Is Born” (no red carpet, but plenty of gloss), the R-Star PPF is engineered to deliver high-performance paint protection technology to a wider set of customers who want showroom sparkle without showroom anxiety.
The product launch was inaugurated by Ruchir Malhotra and Sachin Kumar Ahuja, Co-Founders and Managing Directors of Sheen Automotive, alongside senior representatives from BASF and RODIM, highlighting the collaboration behind the technology stack powering the new film.
Speaking at the launch, Amresh Khar, Sr. Vice President – India & International Markets (Sales & Marketing), RODIM, said the new PPF has been developed specifically for Indian driving realities — which, as most car owners will agree, can include everything from flying gravel to overenthusiastic parking neighbors.
According to the company, R-Star PPF focuses on solving common concerns in the mass-premium PPF space, where aggressive pricing has sometimes led to quality compromises. The new film brings together anti-yellowing technology, self-healing properties, enhanced durability, and a 5-year warranty, aiming to balance performance with value. In simple terms: fewer swirl marks, fewer heart attacks.
Powered by BASF-driven material innovation and backed by more than a century and a half of global material science expertise, R-Star is designed to withstand harsh climate exposure while maintaining gloss and finish over time — useful in a country where cars experience four seasons in a single week.
RODIM said the new product strengthens its broader PPF portfolio, which includes gloss and matte films, Pro Series variants, colored and black PPF options, and warranty programs ranging from five to ten years — essentially a wardrobe change for your car, minus the trial room.
Beyond the product itself, the company emphasized its parallel push on training and skill development for installers and detailers, using German training technology to standardize application quality. Because even the best protection film works better when it’s applied straight — and without bubbles that look like modern art.
With R-Star, RODIM is betting that Indian customers increasingly see paint protection not as a luxury add-on, but as preventive maintenance — like sunscreen, but for cars that refuse to tan evenly.
