New Delhi: BYD India, the Indian arm of the world’s No. 1 New Energy Vehicle (NEV) manufacturer, has announced a focused Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme aimed at strengthening community infrastructure in two places that matter the most — classrooms and hospitals. The initiative is being executed in partnership with Feeed NGO, and was officially launched on January 28, 2026.
In simple terms, while BYD continues to charge batteries, it is now also charging up blackboards and hospital wards.
The CSR programme is built around a very practical idea: instead of symbolic gestures, invest in real, usable infrastructure that delivers long-term benefits. Through detailed on-ground assessments and collaboration with local partners, BYD has structured the programme to focus on sustainability, usability and measurable outcomes — not just ribbon-cutting ceremonies.
Classrooms get an upgrade, not just a paint job
Under its education initiative, BYD India is supporting the development of a government school by improving campus infrastructure, facilities and learning resources. The interventions are aimed at enhancing safety, accessibility and overall learning quality, ensuring that students and teachers get a more stable and supportive environment.
In other words, fewer broken benches, better facilities — and hopefully fewer excuses for “sir, light nahi aa rahi”.
Hospitals get better beds (literally)
On the healthcare front, BYD India is extending support to a government hospital by providing advanced hospital beds, helping improve patient comfort and recovery conditions. The initiative is designed to strengthen patient care capabilities while also making life easier for healthcare professionals.
Because in a hospital, even small upgrades can make a big difference between discomfort and dignity.
A small green touch
Complementing these core initiatives is a plantation drive, carried out with partner NGOs. While not the main focus, it aligns neatly with BYD’s global sustainability philosophy — proving that the company is not only reducing emissions on roads but also adding a few more trees to the skyline.
What BYD says
Commenting on the initiative, Rajeev Chauhan, Head of Electric Passenger Vehicles (EPV) Business at BYD India, said:
“At BYD, sustainability is not limited to what we manufacture or the technologies we deploy; it also extends to how we engage with the communities around us. Our CSR initiatives are focused on strengthening foundational infrastructure in education and advancing environmental efforts through structured, on-ground action.”
Feeed NGO added that the collaboration enables impact-driven initiatives that respond directly to real community needs, rather than generic CSR checklists.
Beyond EVs and showrooms
BYD India’s CSR strategy stands out for its emphasis on disciplined execution, partner-led implementation and long-term outcomes, instead of one-off donations. The programme aligns with BYD’s global philosophy of “Technological Innovations for a Better Life” — extending innovation beyond cars into communities.
Currently, BYD India operates through 47 showrooms across 40 cities, offering sales, service and charging support. Globally, BYD has crossed 14 million NEV sales, helping reduce over 121 billion kilograms of CO₂ emissions — equivalent to what 2.03 billion trees would absorb in a year.
Ranked among the Top 10 Most Valuable Global Automotive Brands by Kantar BrandZ and placed at #91 in the 2025 Fortune Global 500, BYD is clearly big on numbers. But with this CSR programme, it is now trying to be big on impact too — not just kilowatts, but kindness.
