Mumbai: India’s commercial vehicle (CV) heavyweight Tata Motors wrapped up Q3FY26 on a strong note, clocking 1,15,577 units across domestic and international markets—a healthy 21% year-on-year growth over Q3FY25 (95,770 units). December 2025 alone contributed 42,508 units, up from 33,875 units a year ago, suggesting that the festive cheer didn’t stop when the lights came down.
Heavy Trucks, Heavier Momentum
The performance was led by robust demand in Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles (MH&ICV).
- Domestic MH&ICV (December 2025): 20,363 units, up from 15,968 in December 2024
- Domestic MH&ICV (Q3FY26): 53,105 units vs 44,023 in Q3FY25
- Domestic + International MH&ICV (December 2025): 21,646 units vs 16,604 last year
- Domestic + International MH&ICV (Q3FY26): 57,080 units, up from 46,108 in Q3FY25
In plain English: construction sites reopened post-monsoon, mining got busier, logistics kept rolling—and Tata’s trucks were right there, doing the heavy lifting.
Management Speak (and the Road Ahead)
Commenting on the results, Girish Wagh, Managing Director & CEO, Tata Motors Ltd., said the momentum sparked by GST 2.0 and the festive surge in Q2FY26 continued into Q3FY26. He highlighted a strong rebound in construction and mining, steady demand from core sectors and auto logistics, and continued strength in SCVs and pickups as key drivers.
The company reported 22% sequential growth over Q2FY26, underscoring improving sentiment across the CV industry. Looking ahead to Q4FY26, Tata Motors expects demand to strengthen further, aided by the government’s sustained infrastructure push and expansion across end-use sectors.
With an optimised portfolio, sharper pricing, and deeper customer engagement through intensified market activations, Tata Motors believes it is well-positioned to unlock demand across segments. Translation: the order books look busy, the plants are warmed up, and 2026 could be another long-haul drive—minus the traffic jams.
