Porsche Cayenne Electric Arrives: Stuttgart’s Silent Supercar Disguised as an SUV, Starts at INR 1.75 Crore

Stuttgart — Porsche has officially pulled the covers off the Cayenne Electric, marking one of the most defining moments in the brand’s history since the original Cayenne shook purists back in 2002. Only this time, instead of adding cylinders, Porsche has added volts — a lot of them. The result is the most powerful production Porsche ever built, an SUV that accelerates like a supercar, charges like a tech startup on caffeine, and remains as practical as ever.

Price-
Cayenne Electric: INR 1.75 crore
Cayenne Turbo Electric: INR 2.25 crore

The Cayenne Electric delivers performance figures that would have sounded like science fiction a decade ago: up to 850 kW (1,156 PS), 0–100 km/h in 2.5 seconds, Formula E-grade recuperation of up to 600 kW, and DC fast-charging peaking at 400 kW. For an SUV this size, these numbers feel less like engineering and more like sorcery.

Porsche Chairman Oliver Blume describes the new model as “performance in a completely new dimension,” crediting motorsport-derived technology for the SUV’s astonishing capability. Despite its rocket-ship acceleration, the Cayenne Electric remains true to Porsche’s philosophy of everyday usability, offering long-distance comfort, off-road confidence, and — in classic Cayenne fashion — enough space for a family, their luggage, and maybe a golden retriever or two.

The initial lineup includes the Cayenne Electric and the more aggressive Cayenne Turbo Electric, both using all-wheel drive and Porsche’s electronic Traction Management system. The Turbo variant is the headline grabber, thanks to a new drive system that unleashes up to 1,500 Nm with Launch Control. Direct oil-cooled electric motors — a motorsport trick — enable consistent, repeatable performance. Even in its standard driving mode, the Turbo produces 630 kW (857 PS), with a Push-to-Pass function adding a cheeky 130 kW boost at the press of a button. The entry model, meanwhile, offers brisk performance with 300 kW and 0–100 km/h in 4.8 seconds.

The Cayenne Electric also prioritises efficiency. With 97% of braking handled by recuperation, the mechanical brakes almost get a vacation. The chassis, featuring standard adaptive air suspension and optional Porsche Active Ride, promises stability, comfort and handling finesse rarely associated with vehicles weighing this much and accelerating this fast.

At the core of the SUV sits a new 113 kWh high-voltage battery offering a WLTP range of up to 642 km. Thanks to 800-volt architecture, charging from 10% to 80% takes under 16 minutes — barely enough time to stretch your legs or decide which coffee to order. Porsche is also debuting optional 11 kW inductive charging, eliminating cables entirely for those who find plugging in “too 2024.”

Visually, the Cayenne Electric stays unmistakably Porsche while stepping confidently into the future. A low bonnet, slim Matrix LED headlights and frameless doors give it a modern, aerodynamic look, while Turbonite accents on the Turbo add just the right amount of “I bought the fast one” energy. With a drag coefficient of 0.25, it’s among the most aerodynamic SUVs in its class, supported by Porsche Active Aerodynamics with adaptive spoilers, movable cooling flaps and rear aeroblades that subtly shift shape for improved range.

Inside, Porsche has gone full sci-fi. The new Driver Experience centers around a sweeping OLED Flow Display, a fully digital instrument cluster and an optional passenger-side screen — the largest combined display area ever fitted to a Porsche. A head-up display with AR technology overlays navigation cues directly onto the road ahead, while Mood Modes adapt lighting, seating and ambience to the driver’s preference. A panoramic roof with variable light control, heated armrests and extended ambient lighting elevate cabin comfort to luxury flagship levels.

Space, too, is abundant. A 130 mm longer wheelbase significantly improves rear legroom, while luggage capacity of up to 1,588 litres plus a 90-litre frunk ensures the Cayenne Electric remains as useful as any family SUV.

True to Porsche tradition, personalisation options are vast. Buyers can choose from 13 colours, nine wheel designs, multiple interior themes and additional customisation through Paint to Sample and Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur. And for those who like their wrists to match their wheels, Porsche Design now offers model-matched timepieces for the Cayenne range.

Despite its electric ambitions, Porsche confirms all three powertrain options — electric, hybrid and combustion — will continue well into the next decade. “In every segment, customers will have the choice,” says Matthias Becker, Member of the Executive Board for Sales and Marketing. The electric Cayenne, therefore, isn’t a replacement — it’s an expansion, a new pillar for Porsche’s future.

The all-electric Cayenne models are available to order now, promising a new era where SUVs are not just powerful and practical, but also nearly silent, extremely quick, and unquestionably Porsche.
