Tata Curvv Review — The Coupe SUV That Bent the Rules (and Possibly Space-Time)

Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to the future — or at least the curved version of it. Because what you’re looking at isn’t just another Tata SUV. It’s the Tata Curvv — the automotive equivalent of someone who goes to the gym, learns design from Italy, gets safety lessons from Bharat NCAP, and still remembers to bring dahi from the fridge using Alexa.

🏁 The Grand Entrance: Coupe-SUV, Desi Edition

The Curvv first rolled into our lives in 2024, and since then, it’s been causing more neck sprains than an IPL super over. The idea? A Indian Coupe SUV — yes, you heard that right. Because when Tata says “Coupe”, it doesn’t mean impractical sports car — it means a stylish SUV that still lets you carry your uncle’s gas cylinder and your neighbor’s emotional baggage.

The design, courtesy of Martin Uhlarik, looks like the Nexon and Harrier had a baby that attended design school in Milan. The sloping roofline screams “sporty”, while the massive stance whispers “I still want to tackle potholes in Indore.”

💰 Pricing that Curves Your Eyebrows

  • Petrol & Diesel range: ₹10 lakh to ₹17.69 lakh (ex-showroom)
  • Electric version: starts ₹17.49 lakh
  • Warranty: 3 years / 1 lakh km — because Tata knows you’ll show it off till the neighbors buy one.

⚙️ Under the Hood: The Triple Threat

The Curvv doesn’t believe in “one-size-fits-all.” It comes with three engine personalities — like a Bollywood hero with multiple disguises:

  • 🟢 1.5L KryoJet Diesel – 116 HP, 260 Nm torque, 17 km/l efficiency. Calm, composed, efficient — like your accountant uncle.
  • 🔵 1.2L Revotron Petrol – 118 HP, 170 Nm torque. The chatty cousin who revs a lot but doesn’t run marathons.
  • 🔴 1.2L Hyperion GDI Petrol – 123 HP, 225 Nm torque. The one who gym-trains and drinks only Red Bull.

All this with 6-speed manual and 7-speed DCT automatic (featuring shift-by-wire, machine learning, and a self-healing mechanism — so basically, it’s smarter than your laptop).

🚗 Ride, Handling & Feel: Smooth Criminal

Built on Tata’s ATLAS platform (Adaptive Tech-Forward Lifestyle Architecture) — the Curvv drives like it’s surfing on Wi-Fi. The suspension setup is a mix of McPherson struts up front and twist beam rear, fine-tuned to handle both Delhi’s potholes and Pune’s speed breakers disguised as Mount Everest.

The wet-clutch DCT is actively cooled, which is Tata’s way of saying, “Yes, we know how you drive in Gurgaon traffic.”

Three drive modes — Eco, City, Sport — are available. Though “Sport” mostly means your engine gets louder and your fuel meter starts crying softly.

🧠 Tech So Smart, It Might File Your Taxes

This thing is smarter than your Alexa, thanks to the iRA 2.0 connected suite. You can:

  • Lock/unlock remotely,
  • Geo-fence your teen’s midnight McDonald’s trips,
  • Track it live (for paranoia enthusiasts),
  • Immobilize it if stolen (or if your friend refuses to return it),
  • And even book service through the app.

At ₹2000 per year, it’s cheaper than Netflix — and unlike Netflix, it won’t cancel your subscription mid-cliffhanger.

🧊 Inside the Curvv: Where Futurism Meets Family Drama

Step inside, and it’s like Tata decided to build a spaceship that still fits your dadi’s cushion.

  • Red Leatherette Upholstery that says “passion,”
  • Ambient lighting that says “party,”
  • Ventilated seats that say “Delhi May Heat,”
  • 12.3-inch touchscreen that supports Alexa, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and What3Words (so you can tell your friends exactly where your ego got bruised).

And the JBL 9-speaker setup (320W with subwoofer) — it’s so powerful, even the car next to you might start singing “Kesariya”.

🌞 Sunroof So Big, You Can Practically Rent It

A voice-assisted panoramic sunroof that opens when you say “Hey Tata, open the sunroof” — and occasionally also when you sneeze too enthusiastically (just kidding… mostly).

Add in a Phygital control panel, cooled glovebox, wireless charger, and a gesture-controlled tailgate that opens with a wave — perfect for when you’re carrying groceries or dramatic flair.

💂‍♂️ Safety: Bharat NCAP’s Blue-Eyed Baby

Engineered for 5-star Bharat NCAP, the Curvv has more safety tech than an airport scanner:

  • 6 airbags
  • ESP, Hill-hold, Hill-descent
  • Level 2 ADAS with collision alerts, lane assist, and blind-spot view monitor
  • Rear cross-traffic alert (because reversing into scooters is a national pastime)
  • Doze-off alert for the sleepy road-trippers
  • And brake disc wiping — yes, even your brakes get a spa day.

🧳 Practicality: For the Real World (and Indian Weddings)

Boot space? 500 litres — or 973 litres with the rear seats down. That’s enough to fit 3 suitcases, 1 bassinet, 1 harmonium, and 2 nosy relatives.

The flush door handles, silver skid plates, and connected LED tail lamps make it look futuristic, while 18-inch alloys with aero inserts add just the right dash of swagger.

🎭 Verdict: Coupe ka Dil, SUV ka Dum

The Tata Curvv is not just a car — it’s a statement. It’s for people who want something stylish yet sensible, bold yet balanced, futuristic yet proudly Indian.

It’s a car that can do the school run, impress the neighbors, and still make you feel like you’re driving a concept vehicle from 2030.

Sure, it’s not perfect — the sloping roofline might shave a few hairs off tall passengers’ heads, and the DCT takes a coffee break once in a while — but overall, it’s Tata’s most ambitious, well-rounded, and fun-to-drive car in years.

⭐ Final Rating:

Style: 9/10
Tech: 9.5/10
Performance: 8.5/10
Practicality: 8/10
Value-for-money: 10/10 (because Made in India, baby 🇮🇳)
