Stellantis and Muskaan Foundation Drive Road Safety Revolution with ‘Safe Journey’ in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: In a city where traffic jams can outlast your favorite OTT series and honking is practically a second language, Stellantis India and Muskaan Foundation for Road Safety have flagged off their multi-city road safety initiative — ‘Safe Journey’ — starting from none other than India’s tech capital, Bengaluru.

With Bengaluru recording 4,974 accidents and 915 fatalities in 2023, ranking second among India’s million-plus cities for road crash fatalities, the campaign aims to make road discipline as contagious as a trending reel.

🚦 From Campus Corridors to City Crossroads

The campaign is set to engage 11,000 students, 1,000 teachers, and 20,000 community members over the next 6–8 months through workshops, Road Safety Clubs, and community outreach. The first leg saw six workshops and six Road Safety Club activities, roping in 1,400+ students and 50+ faculty, with awareness rippling out to over 50,000 citizens.

Partnering with the Commissioner of College Education, Government of Karnataka, the initiative officially kicked off across six prominent institutions — including Ramnarayan Chellaram College and Government First Grade Colleges in Peenya, Kengeri, Malleshwaram, HSR Layout, and Devanahalli.

The Bengaluru Traffic Police joined hands too, proving that road safety isn’t just about fines — it’s about families. From Basaveshwara Circle to Malleshwaram Junction, students transformed crossroads into classrooms with spirited on-road campaigns.

🧠 Learning Meets Leadership

In true Gen Z style, the campaign isn’t just about dry lectures. Think poster competitions, social media reel challenges, and student-led awareness drives that make “Look left, right, left again” sound cooler than it ever did in school.

Special sessions even saw college students mentoring pre-university students — a refreshing role reversal where the youth are leading the way in making Bengaluru’s roads safer, one zebra crossing at a time.

🗣️ Leaders Speak

“At Stellantis, we believe safety and education are the cornerstones of responsible mobility. Through ‘Safe Journey’, we are empowering Bengaluru’s youth not only to protect themselves but also to inspire safer habits among families and communities,”
Shailesh Hazela, CEO and Managing Director, Stellantis India

“This campaign is about turning knowledge into leadership. By enabling students to take charge as role models, we are building a ripple effect that extends far beyond campuses,”
Neha Khullar, Director – Projects, Muskaan Foundation for Road Safety

🛣️ Building Habits That Outlast Campaigns

Road Safety Clubs have been set up in all six colleges to keep the momentum alive, including two in partnership with the Bengaluru Traffic Police. A WhatsApp group connects coordinators, ensuring the conversation on road safety doesn’t end when the workshop does.

With Bengaluru’s youthful energy and rapid urban growth as its backdrop, ‘Safe Journey’ is more than a campaign — it’s a cultural nudge. And soon, this movement will travel beyond Bengaluru to other bustling cities across India.

Because if India can send rockets to the moon, surely we can remember to wear helmets and follow traffic lights. 🏍️🚦🚗
