Mahindra’s Festive Cavalry Gallops Past 1 Lakh Units — Navratri Retails Hit the Accelerator with 60% Surge

Mumbai: Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M Ltd.), one of India’s leading automotive companies, has kicked off the festive season in high gear, clocking total auto sales of 100,298 vehicles in September 2025, marking a 16% growth including exports.

SUVs Lead the Charge

In the Utility Vehicles segment, Mahindra sold 56,233 vehicles in the domestic market, a 10% increase over last year. Total UV sales including exports stood at 58,714 units. The Commercial Vehicles business wasn’t far behind, reporting 26,728 domestic sales, growing 18% year-on-year.

However, like a perfectly timed cliffhanger, the company noted that SUV billing numbers were temporarily “parked in the pit lane” towards the month’s end due to limited trailer availability — a side effect of the nationwide festive freight frenzy.

According to Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO – Automotive Division, M&M Ltd., “In September, we achieved SUV sales of 56,233 units, a growth of 10%, and total vehicle sales of 100,298 units, a 16% growth compared to the same month last year.

Thanks to the impetus from GST 2.0 and the preceding weeks’ pent-up demand, we have seen robust growth in dealer reported customer retails during the first nine days of Navratri, with over 60% growth in the SUV segment and over 70% in the CV segment compared to the same festive window last year.

The surge in festive demand has placed significant constraints on trailer availability. We are working to improve dispatches to our dealer network within the constraints.”

GST 2.0 + Festive Spirit = Perfect Storm

The combination of lower GST rates, the festive buying mood, and Mahindra’s strong SUV lineup created a sales storm that saw dealerships across the country buzzing like sweet shops before Dussehra. Even with logistical hiccups, the brand’s festive cavalry seems well saddled for the months ahead.
