Namaste, VinFast! Vietnam’s EV Warriors VF 6 & VF 7 Set to Electrify India’s SUV Battleground

Hanoi to Haryana, with a quick pit stop at your driveway — Vietnamese automaker VinFast is charging full speed into the Indian EV space with its first two models, the VF 6 and VF 7. And no, they’re not here to make friends — they’re here to compete with the likes of Mahindra’s BE 6 and Tata’s Harrier EV with sharp styling, cockpit-like cabins, and enough tech to make your smartphone feel insecure.

Set to launch before the festive season, the VF 6 comes with a 59.6-kWh battery and 150 kW motor — perfect for silently zipping past your neighbourhood petrolhead. Meanwhile, the VF 7 is the bigger, brawnier sibling boasting a 70.8-kWh battery and 260 kW motor, ready to out-torque traffic tantrums.

Pham Sanh Chau, CEO of VinFast Asia, promises that both SUVs will be high on safety, comfort, and more importantly, tailored for Indian road conditions. “Think: dual-tone interiors, full-glass roofs, and ADAS that’ll stop your car before your aunt can shout ‘arre baccha!’ from the back seat,” he said.

The premium touch doesn’t stop at the design. Expect 12.9-inch infotainment screens, Heads-Up Display, OTA updates, and enough safety tech to make your insurance guy weep with joy — including 7 airbags and blind-spot warnings.

But wait — are these Vietnamese beauties desi at heart? Not yet, but soon. VinFast is eyeing local manufacturing, encouraged by India’s EV-friendly policies. Chau teased that factory details will be revealed “soon”, though we suspect they’re already Googling industrial plots and pani-puri spots.

Meanwhile, dealership and service plans are revving up. VinFast says it’s already deep in chai-sipping negotiations with prospective partners across tier-1 and tier-2 cities and promises an omni-channel experience blending old-school showrooms with slick digital bookings.

While VF 6 and VF 7 will be first off the boat, VinFast fans (yes, that’s already a thing) can also look forward to other models like the pint-sized VF 3 and the larger VF 8 and VF 9 — all previewed at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo.

Vietnam is no longer just about pho and pho-rmidable travel vlogs — it’s now exporting electric SUVs that are ready to park in India’s driveways and in Mahindra and Tata’s rear-view mirrors. Let the silent battle begin.
