₹3,653 Cr Badvel-Nellore Expressway Gets Green Light, Promises Jobs, Speed—and Fewer Bumpy Detours

New Delhi: Buckle up, Andhra Pradesh—there’s a smoother, faster, and significantly more job-generating road ahead! The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the development of a 108.134 km four-lane Badvel-Nellore highway corridor, set to cost ₹3,653.10 crore. Built under the Design-Build-Finance-Operate-Transfer (DBFOT) model, this ambitious project aims to connect people, ports, and profits—without the potholes.

Stretching from Gopavaram Village on NH-67 to Guruvindapudi on NH-16, the highway is more than just a strip of tarmac. It’s a turbocharged artery meant to energize the Vishakhapatnam-Chennai, Hyderabad-Bengaluru, and Chennai-Bengaluru industrial corridors—because even trade needs a little “vroom.”

Strategically skirting through YSR Kadapa and SPSR Nellore districts, the corridor will also provide direct connectivity to Krishnapatnam Port—currently known more for traffic congestion than trade efficiency. With the new highway, travel distance to the port will shrink by nearly 34 km, cutting journey times by an hour and helping trucks sip rather than guzzle fuel. The environment breathes a little easier, and so does your accountant tracking vehicle operating costs.

But wait, there’s more! This isn’t just a road—it’s a rolling employment engine. Expect 20 lakh man-days of direct employment and another 23 lakh in indirect roles. In short, it’s a highway to economic heaven with a solid detour through job junction.

The government hopes this corridor will not just raise the Logistic Performance Index but also make Andhra Pradesh a star performer on the infrastructure leaderboard. And for those keeping score: yes, this road means business—literally.

So whether you’re a trader, transporter, tourist, or just someone who’s tired of bad roads and bad puns—help is on the highway.
