Hyundai India Adds More ‘Smart’ to Exter—Because Apparently, One Brain Wasn’t Enough, Starts at INR 7.68 lakh

Gurugram: Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has just dropped two new variants of its much-loved Exter SUV—the S Smart and SX Smart—because, let’s face it, in 2025 even your toaster is expected to have AI. The move is aimed at wooing the next-gen Indian buyer who wants everything—sunroof, tech, safety, and a smart key—without selling a kidney.

Expanding the Exter lineup with these feature-rich trims, Hyundai says it’s all about “democratizing technology,” which is corporate speak for “Let’s make sunroofs more common than selfies.” Both S Smart and SX Smart are tailored to suit the aspirational needs of young, tech-savvy Indians who demand big features in compact packages.

Speaking on the occasion, Tarun Garg, Whole-Time Director and Chief Operating Officer of HMIL, said, “The introduction of these Smart variants is our way of telling customers: Yes, you can have an electric sunroof and money left for petrol (or CNG).”

Both new variants will be available with manual and AMT transmissions, powered by petrol and Hyundai’s eco-minded Hy-CNG Duo engines. Whether you’re stuck in Delhi traffic or off on a quick weekend escape, the Exter promises not just fuel flexibility but also plenty of flair.

What’s new? The S Smart now comes with a sunroof to help you air out your ambition, while the SX Smart gets a push-button start so you can pretend you’re launching a rocket every time you go grocery shopping. And for those wanting a dash of infotainment magic, there’s an optional 22.96 cm touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay—yours for just ₹14,999 (which includes a 3-year warranty and possibly your neighbour’s envy).

HMIL is also stepping up its family game by making ISOFIX child seat anchors standard—because when you say “family SUV,” you better mean it.

Having already made waves since launch with segment-first features and 6 airbags standard across variants, the Exter is proving that even at the entry level, you don’t need to compromise on safety, smarts, or style.

The Hyundai Exter just got two degrees smarter. And while your smartphone may still be trying to recognize your face in bad lighting, your SUV now starts with a button, opens to the sky, and connects wirelessly. Evolution, Exter-style.

In addition, Hyundai Exter S Smart and SX Smart variants are equipped with:
