Gurugram — If India had a national car body type, Hyundai just nominated “SUV with a sunroof.” Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), the country’s go-to premium smart mobility brand, has not only driven into a landmark fiscal year but seemingly parked itself at the summit of automotive success.
According to FY2024-25 stats, a staggering 68.5% of Hyundai’s domestic sales came from SUVs—which means every second neighbor now probably has a Creta or Exter peeking out of the garage, and every third vehicle sold is ready to climb mountains (or at least mall parking ramps).
But the real showstopper? Over 53% of Hyundai cars sold now come with sunroofs. Yes, India’s love for sky-gazing while stuck in traffic is officially a phenomenon. At this rate, Hyundai may want to consider complimentary sunscreen in the glovebox.
“FY2024-25 has been a landmark year,” said Tarun Garg, Whole-Time Director & COO, Hyundai Motor India. “Two out of three vehicles sold were SUVs and every second one had a sunroof. Clearly, Indians want to go big—and preferably, with a view!”
The rising appetite for ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) also doubled this fiscal, now contributing 14.3% of Hyundai’s domestic sales. With nine models featuring ADAS, it seems India’s drivers are finally warming up to the idea of their car being a co-pilot instead of just a four-wheeled companion.
Hyundai’s product strategy continues to hit all the right notes—offering 12 sunroof-enabled models, 9 ADAS-equipped ones, and an orchestra of powertrain options including Petrol, Diesel, Turbo Petrol, CNG, and Electric, paired with everything from IVT to DCT. It’s like a buffet, but for gearheads.
This remarkable growth highlights Hyundai’s focus on democratizing premium features while staying attuned to India’s rapidly evolving automotive taste. Whether it’s high-seating SUVs, panoramic views, or cutting-edge safety tech, Hyundai seems to have a crystal-clear view of what the Indian customer wants—sunroof included.
In summary: Hyundai isn’t just driving growth—it’s cruising in style, sunroof open, and music playing, in an SUV that’s probably smarter than your smartphone.
