Mercedes-Benz G-Class Edition ‘Stronger Than The 1980s’ Rolls In with Retro and Off-Road Swagger

If Marty McFly ever swapped his DeLorean for an SUV, this would be it. The Mercedes-Benz G-Class Edition Stronger Than The 1980s has landed, and it’s not just a nostalgic throwback – it’s a time-traveling tribute wrapped in Manufaktur paint and military-grade coolness. Limited to just 460 units worldwide (yes, that’s fewer than the number of Kardashians at a fashion show), this is not just a vehicle – it’s an instant collector’s item that could give vintage vinyl a run for its money.

An Icon Reborn – in Technicolor

Remember when beige was bold and avocado green ruled the earth? Mercedes sure does. The Edition Stronger Than The 1980s proudly revives three delightfully dated colours:

  • Manufaktur Agave Green – For those who want their SUV to match their houseplants.
  • Manufaktur Cream – Because nothing says city elegance like off-white that threatens to show every speck of dust.
  • Manufaktur Colorado Beige – Think Sahara chic meets Sunday brunch.

The classic black bumper setup, orange indicators, and vintage 5-spoke wheels don’t just flirt with the past – they move in, start a mixtape, and crank the Walkman. The spare wheel cover even features a silver badge straight outta Stuttgart, circa 1982.

Technology Has Come a Long Way – Thankfully

While the exterior says “Reagan era,” the guts of this beast scream “SpaceX payload.” Available in two variants – the diesel-powered G 450 d or the petrol-guzzling G 500 – both models come with modern creature comforts, emissions that politely apologize as they leave the tailpipe, and enough torque to tow a small village.

Mercedes didn’t just dip into its design vault; it raided it like Indiana Jones. From mud flaps and protective headlamp grilles to that oh-so-retro Mercedes star with a laurel wreath (cue slow clap), the exterior screams G-Class but make it VHS.

And yes, you can add a PROFESSIONAL roof rack if your idea of luxury includes strapping things to the roof like it’s 1984.

Cabin Fever Never Looked This Good

Step inside and prepare to be serenaded by the Burmester 3D surround sound system – because every off-road journey deserves a power ballad. The seats feature dove grey fabric inserts (yes, you read that right – fabric!), bordered by fine black leather. The dash? Engraved with “Stronger Than The 1980s,” because of course it is.

But wait, there’s more! Door sills feature a miniature topographical map of the Schöckl – the mountain where every G-Class earns its stripes. There’s a classic-style “Schöckl Proved” badge near the B-pillar too, just in case your friends didn’t believe your G-Wagon could climb like a goat with a turbo.

Topping it off: A glass sunroof, Nappa leather steering wheel, and the all-important “1 of 460” plaque on the center console, which is basically the SUV equivalent of a signed Picasso.

The Price of Timelessness

If you have €160,055 (INR 1.55 crore) lying around (or perhaps just sold your soul to the 1980s), you can order your piece of retro-modern magic today. Just act fast – with only 460 available, they’re more limited than mixtapes that survived your dad’s cassette deck.

The G-Class Edition Stronger Than The 1980s isn’t just a car. It’s a flex. A boxy, brawny, badge-wearing, retro-coded love letter to a time when SUVs were more tool than toy – and yet, thanks to Mercedes, now manage to be both. If you’ve ever wished your off-roader could wear shoulder pads, listen to synth-pop, and still dominate a mountain trail – your wish just came true.

Because nothing’s stronger than time… except, maybe, the G-Class.
